  1. Living in Brighton I have seen and heard a lot of the local reaction to El Abd's departure. There is so much respect for him and genuine wishes for him to do well for us - I honestly havent read or heard a single bad word about the bloke. A BHAFC season ticket holding mate said he is great in the air for someone just short of 6ft and described him in a totally complimentary way as an "animal". Great news we have got him in my opinion.

  2. I haven't seen anywhere that SC said he had played midfield. As far as I'm aware it was on Wikipedia and a number of Brighton fans have since confirmed he's really just a centre half. I'm just surprised that was your first idea of how to use him. I also don't see Pack as an attacking midfielder, he hasn't got the pace or fitness. He's a good passer of the ball and he sits in front of the back four. That's his game.

  3. I'm pleased you're not the manager! You'd sign a centre half and then play him as a holding midfielder, then ask a 'sitting' midfielder (Pack) to push on as an attacking midfielder????

  6. So, you put a defender in a midfield role, whilst giving him license to be a striker as well Interesting......

  7. Brighton fans have been watching him for years and they love him to bits. I had a quick look on their North Stand Forum and they seem gutted to see him go. You don't get that sort of praise from football fans for acting like a big pussy whilst just picking up a wage. I'm really happy with this signing. Welcome to Bristol City Adam, you sound exactly like what we need.

  9. In my opinion, you just significantly improved your chances of staying up! Bloody good signing for a League One club and he'll give you 110% every week! Always seems to know the right buttons to press to wind the opposition's forwards up, and a good ability to know just how far to push the ref. Hard nut and a true gent at the same time. Great player and an Albion legend, he'll be missed by everyone at Brighton, i'm gutted to see him go, but have to wish him all the best at BCFC! Good luck for the rest of the season.

  10. How many times?! It's a guideline, there will be exceptions! The point - we'll no longer just sign over the hill players. There is a new focus on investing in younger players which we are doing bringing through Reid, Bryan and signing the likes of flint, JET and Osborne. Having said that, every team needs balance and on average we have a very yong squad. Centre back is also a position where you need experience and where generally players last longer. AEA is a very good signing for his quality and experience. He'll be 33 when his contract expires, nothing wrong with that at all. Look at our back line. Carey will be gone in the summer as will wilson and possibly Fonts. Williams, Osborne, Flint are all relatively young. Experienced head in there is vital. Fantastic signing. Please will people show some common sense about the under-24 guideline!

  11. If he helps us keep a few clean sheets, does it really matter? Plenty of posters were bemoaning the fact that we can't keep the goals out on Tuesday after the Watford defeat, SC is trying to do something about it.

  12. Im not complaining about the under 24 policy at all, i couldn't give 2 hoots if the player is 73 as long as he improves the squad overall.

  13. Hold on! I'm just dusting down my "Five Pillars" handbook. The Pillar states: "The club aims to sign players aged 24 and under more often than not, with older recruits becoming an exception, rather than the norm. The club is also building up a database of young players in all positions to aid in talent identification." The above statement is clearly ambiguous because "more often than not" suggests greater than 50% of the time. If we imagine the time-frame of this season than we could still get a few "exceptions" in without breaking the pillar. Also, the pillar doesn't stipulate whether "sign" means sign permanently or on loan. Ultimately I think the pillar is probably shit and we should give up on it.

  14. More the boredom of your current sniping at the new regime. Still waiting for Cotterill etc to fall on his ass and he isn't. Good signings, decent pick up in results and you just constantly find something to snipe about. It gets a bit boring.
