  1. Bit of a strange one from Wlad at the presser just now; he has recorded his prediction for the fight on a usb stick which he's stitching into his robe for Saturday then selling to the highest bidder for his charity. He's obviously trying to get in AJ's head, he also butted in a question to AJ about defeat to subtly imply he'd soon be familiar with it. Wlad is incredibly relaxed. AJ kept it simple, essentially 'I have no fear, we're coming to blows and may the best man win'. He looks very focussed but still calm. There are rumours Wlad damaged his eye socket training last week too, interesting... In other news Haskins to fight Burnett in Belfast in June

  3. Enjoyed the press conference. AJ looked calm but maybe slightly amazed by the sheer scale of this occasion. Obviously Wlad has been here before fighting in German footy stadiums so knows the score. Certainly won the mental battle. The USB stick thing was a bit weird, especially if he's predicted that it's AJ who's the winner on there! As for Haskins, great match up. Burnett is trained by Hatton and in front of a partisan Belfast crowd it will get some decent exposure.

  4. His losses made him switch trainers to Emanuel Steward who developed his 'jab and grab' style, wether your a fan of the brothers or not you've got to say, it was very effective...

  5. Spoke to a gashead acquaintance this week who said the old bill have been warning pubs etc on Gloucester Rd that "them teds" are heading to the Millets Stadium this Sunday to say hello to the Gas and Millwall, so it looks like if there is any problems "them teds" will get the blame, getting the excuses in early this time.

  6. Do we know how much young Eddie stands to make from this fight? I see it's £20 to watch on box office which I'll probably pay!

  7. Same as Floyd. Not particularly attractive boxing for the casual, but gets the job done.

  8. Exactly mate, it was very effective, if shite to watch. I wonder if we should be concerned about the American ref David Fields. He let Hopkins and Kovalev get away with murder when they fought at the end of 2014. Joe Cortez was talking about it the other day, let's hope he keeps an eye on Wlad: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/boxing/2017/04/25/wladimir-klitschko-warned-jab-grab-disqualification-against/

  12. HMRC officers, in conjunction with French authorities, have not launched a raid on Bristol Rovers training ground at Hortham Lane Almondsbury this afternoon. A spokesman ruled out any connection between Rovers and multi million pound transfer dealings with Olympique de Marseille stating that action was unnecessary because no training ground was ever likely to be built.

  14. I find it absolutely hilarious that a team in the ninth tier can get an impressive purpose-built facility and the Gas still can't get their stadium act together.

  15. It really does put the stature of our 2 clubs into perspective, when on our side fans are saying it's a bit of a worry we've only sold 11,500 Season Tickets so far, and they're having a wankathon about selling 11,000 for 1 odd home game.

  17. You can make a good case for any possible outcome. When the fight was first announced I felt confident AJ would win but the closer it gets the more I waver! There's no doubt that- despite the footage coming out of Austria of Wlad slipping punches and dancing around the ring- Klitschko is a very predictable fighter, schooled in the old Eastern European low risk style of establishing the jab then throwing right crosses with the occasional big left hook. In his case he has always got away with murder with friendly German refs allowing him to lean all over opponents too- although that tactic is obviously out fighting AJ. You would imagine this style will suit AJ down to the ground with his amateur background, and I would say he would struggle more with a more mobile opponent, particularly given his relative lack of head movement. Barring a miraculous adjustment in style, Joshua knows what Klitschko will do, and he knows he's quicker and more aggressive than him, with much more variety to his work. There's also the fact that Wlad has looked a busted flush in his last two fights, unable to pull the trigger and throwing far fewer punches per round than in his pomp; he had no clue how to deal with Fury and looked awful against Jennings too. However, we all know that AJ hasn't been in with anyone close to Wlad's level and that the latter is one of the most successful heavyweights ever. He seems more pumped up for this then I've ever seen him before. There's also the question of Joshua's whiskers; the only time he's eaten a big shot was in the 2nd round v Whyte and it took him a good few seconds to come to his senses. While Whyte starting swinging like there was no tomorrow and missed his chance, Wlad would surely close the show in those circumstances, he's far too long in the tooth to let an opponent off the hook there. I think Wlad's tactics will be to survive the initial onslaught by Joshua and take him deep and use the ridiculous amount of experience he has to find a way to stop AJ late or take a decision. The fight could well depend on who can establish a jab first and AJ's lack of head movement could be a problem given Wlad's accuracy- although AJ's jab has come on well in the last couple of fights. If I absolutely had to bet on something it would be AJ to stop Wlad between 4 and 6 but I wouldn't be surprised by any other outcome and I can't bloody well wait!

  18. Intriguing fight imo. People are writing Wlad off too easily, i think he will fight much better than he did against Fury and if he takes AJ past 8 rounds who knows what might happen. I hope Wlad puts up a fight and tests AJ so we can see just how good AJ is. Ultimately i want AJ to win, the guy is a class act.

  19. That's the first time I have ever watched the Beverley Hill Billies in colour! Amazing that their yardstick for comparison is always "The Sh1t". Oh well, the reality turned out to be a farmers field for a training ground, a new subbuteo style scoreboard, some Championship Ready sprinklers and a new tent! They must be so over the moon!!!!
