If you can't laugh at yourself, then how can you laugh at anybody else? Life's too short not to see the funny side at your own expense sometimes.

In the Net produced a nice touch of the traditional Rovers sense of humour which is almost extinct now. I frequent OTIB because of the hilarity of posters poking fun at the absurdities which come out of The Mem and which have hardly dried up since Nicholas left. We keep scoring the own goals so it's not surprising City fans make the most of it. This light hearted mirth is what football rivalry should be about but sadly the "banter" coming the other way is too often tinged with resentment. Even today there is a gaschat post encouraging fans to boycott Argos because they have been taken over by Sainsburys but thankfully sensible posters are discouraging such nonsense. How we got to this point is hard to say because in the days of "Ashton Alf" and "Eastville Ern" Rovers fans had a distinctive character which certainly did not include boastfulness, exaggeration or the type of paranoiac blind faith we see today.,

Haha, I'm sure he'd enjoy a session in the Shed. Shame it'll be another year at least before we meet in Europe again. Love the guy. Goes to show what you can gain by welcoming people with open arms. I imagine he only ever thought about playing for the Bulls and SA as a kid, now he bleeds red. I always enjoy when Munster are on Sky and CJ has the player mic as well, he's from the Paulie school of manic aggression. That's good to hear. It's easy to criticise sportsmen on huge wedges for pretty much anything, but I'm sure plenty are doing things in their communities that we never get to hear about. I hope so too. Great to see local guys making it. Shame it won't be with Bristol for now though.

It's always amazed me that Bath City managed to hold on to Twerton Park...

It's been said before but it's worth repeating: This is the club that hasn't had a five figure average home attendance for over 40 years. But they're bigger than Huddersfield obviously.
