  1. They are SAVED! Apparently they have 10,000 supporters who can contribute a regular monthly amount towards a 25million quid stadium. Or at least, one of them claims. Now, unless I'm wrong, most commercial loans generally charge interest, most generally expect loans to be secured against an asset to which a charge can be made and generally, to get credit, you need to be over 18. So, we now understand the entire fewers fans base. All over 18. All homeowners with no mortgage. All happy to pay commercial rates on a 25 year commitment (regardless of their age). All happy to lose their homes if it all goes breasts North. Now, far be it for me to pick this convincing case apart, but.... Hahahahaha.

  4. I can understand that Miah, that’s perfectly natural. In fairness to you, you don’t make any secret that you’d like to see us lose, you also have said in the past that if the tables were turned and we’d have got relegated to the Conference you’d be taking every opportunity to take the piss. I respect that because you’re being honest and not trying to claim you’re any better than us.

  6. As I've posted before; as a football fan I do not want any club to die. However as a City fan, I'll be content with Rovers becoming a mid table Western League side. PERMANENTLY!

  7. Some Christmas cheer coming through from their forum:- " Sad I know but had it confirmed that the club has not paid £12000 owed to my employers for 15 months work. Something is dreadfully wrong financially, people cannot just not pay for services. I will not divulge who I work for but can guarantee it is true. The workforce has now been withdrawn because of non payment. Merry Christmas and see you at Walsall" The question is, does he work for a carpet cleaning company? ... or a curtain maker? ... or a dodgy turf-laying company? ... or Dopey's "canine services" supplier? ... or their Blue Glass engraving team? The list is endless...

  10. I am really worried about the future of this club. The lack of investment the daily run down of the club.Rising debts .Awful pitch.loss of UWE.No training ground development on the horizon. Our away form is terrible. The rumour of losing our best player in the pipeline pos going to city with his mate. There doesn’t seem to be any good news anywhere to cheer us up.Wael and Hamer has gone really quiet giving us zero news that may be happening.I wouldn’t be surprised if the manager just walked away taking his back room staff with him- what’s here to keep him? Only his wages I feel really down thinking of the near future especially with what’s going on at City and having our noses rubbed in day in day what a great team they are I thinking of turning red .I have been supporting Rovers since 1962 I feel disalusioned at the moment.I suppose we are in league one which is a blessing but for now div 2 awaits Sorry for being so negative but but the Alqadi family has drained me and the club as I thought they were the saviours. The £10m charge on the Mem also worries me.Why? Is this a sinister move? We need to start winning away from home to take the pressure off DC . I can’t see where the next win is coming from. Yes Bristol Rob I taken this from gas chat and added some just to spice it up a bit well it is Christmas

  11. Yes but............THIRTY YEARS out of date ?

  12. Crisps that are a week or 2 out of date won’t hurt anyone. The fact they are needing to sell crisps that are out of date possibly sums up just how bad things are over there.

  13. We had a corner shop years ago that did this, bought cheap stock with just a month or 2 left before it was going out of best before date - problem is you need to buy in bulk, so they were constantly falling foul of selling stuff out of date. To be fair though, crisp etc... it's not going to matter that much if it's a little beyond best before date.

  14. Funny you should say that - one of the ones questioning the messiah (there are quite a few now) did say in one of his posts that a fish rots from the head down!

  16. They`re over there at delusion central banging on about the catering again - they reckon the stalls had run out of virtually everything well before kick off. That sounds to me like a company just buying in what they think they`ll get away with no allowance for extra. Oh, and one of them said they were still selling out of date crisps.

  28. They have zero profitability because they have nothing comparable to that which generates income for most Football League clubs. It used to be almost entirely attendance money (and to a lesser extent sponsorship) which made up the income, but since the 90's that has changed entirely, and that's why thanks to our investment we are finally turning the corner from a financial perspective. They simply don't have the facilities to generate that income. They don't have a decent number of boxes, VIP facilities, conference facilities, etc to make money every day of the week. Speaking from a completely unbiased perspective (or at least trying to), they are an attractive proposition for a very wealthy investor who doesn't mind taking a gamble. While there's no doubt they have a smaller fanbase than us, they do have potential for a much larger fanbase than some ex-Prem teams - given the size of Bristol I'd imagine they could eclipse the likes of Wigan, Bolton, etc. Their problem is that they really need so much investment before they can start turning a profit. Given their location near both town and Aztec West, they are actually in a prime position to attract the high-end sort of off-the-pitch revenue. Problem is, to take advantage of that, they need a new stadium, new training ground, enhanced youth, scouting and data programmes, etc. You're talking maybe £60m of investment needed, at which point you'd imagine their fanbase would grow, off-the-field revenue would absolutely soar and they'd start moving in the right direction. Basically, very high potential, but starting from a long, long way back. As it stands, I can't see anyone willing to take that gamble. And I can't say I'm complaining.

  29. You are correct, the biggest cheer at the men these days is if we lose, so the poor bastards haven't even had much opportunity to even indulge in the particular pastime. Whereas I wouldn't betting most BCFC fans after home games go to a bar for a few more drinks, go home take a long piss, eat their evening meal and making sure they have drunk enough to numb them before settling down to the shit on terrestrial TV and then think 'hang on before I pass out I had better make sure I actually see a little comedy tonight, I wonder how the gas got on?'. No need for a big cheer, it's just constant good cheer.

  30. Merry Christmas, @Miah Dennehy but I can't imagine that you 15ers will enjoy the happiest new year. Everything seems presently stacked against your club (which we're all enjoying heartily btw) and its hard to see how it can end well for you. I enjoy the fact that OTIB is a forum which gives our rivals a voice. The brickbats thrown at us by you, other gasheads, posters from Cardiff and even Barnsley cause all of us to challenge our thinking about how our club is run. It enables us to develop a more balanced view. Occasionally, some posters such as @st andrews gas turn up simply intent upon taking the piss but there are enough on here to put them in their place and send them off to lick their wounds. Were your own forum to be similarly moderated (rather than adopting the present North Korean approach) then the seemingly delusional beliefs spouted by so many of your fans would be challenged and changed perhaps galvanizing your fan base to challenge and change the management of your club (note I said club, not team). Unless changes are quickly made, you're on a slippery slope to oblivion. Your wish to see your team beat us once more will never happen because your club will no longer exist. With that cheery possibility in mind, I wish all of my fellow OTIB'ers the Merriest Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

  31. The thing is you can't knock what City are doing at the moment but that doesn't stop me from wanting it to stop! Currently we are light years apart and that doesn't look like changing any time soon, but things do change and in football it can happen quite quickly. A year ago Lansdown and Johnson in particular were getting some horrific stick and the prospect of us facing each other again in league competition looked odds on, a year on and it looks as far away as ever. I'm 53 next week, and at the moment, I'd take just beating you once more in my lifetime.

  32. Any other club I would feel sorry for. But the 15ers have spent 35 years laughing about a club that was in financial ruin. They found it all so hilarious! **** ‘em.
