  2. Good afternoon All. Do not drink the Clevedon water. That message arrived slightly too late for me and I have been off the grid for 24 hours. Now fighting fit again and ready to go to the match in my continuing presence in England. Aiming to take in as many matches as I can. The voice is almost recovered from Tuesday. Since I cannot find anybody having stepped into the breach I offer this measly portion as todays match day on a shoe string.. thats it folks. Lets all make our contribution today and bring home a very much required three points. Normal service will be resumed for Derby. Is that our next match? I can't keep up with it. So many matches, so little time. Two new signings; welcome to Liam Walsh, with a decent cameo on Tuesday and Ryan Kent. Loose the earrings on the pitch fella. Cheers me dears. Enjoy the game.

  3. Always believe has got to be the least applicable song to Bristol City fans possible. I’m all for doom and gloom when we’re shit and in the relegation zone. By all means, wallow in negativity then. But the absolute meltdown of some fans at a loss when we’re in virtual nosebleed territory in the table and one win away from a major cup final is unreal. It’s annoying, yes. But let’s chill...! Long way to go yet.

  4. My age makes no difference - always a ridiculous argument. I was there for the 2007/8 season anyway. You've given our two respective signings 60 and 30 minutes until you dismiss them. Shut up.

  6. No they're not! That`s just a postal address. Their actual base is a council lock up down Muller Road. I know `cos Henbury Gas told me. The family club would never stoop so low as to be owned by someone overseas. They`d rather go out of business than bow the knee to some foreign bullshitter with no money.

  7. What really galls Scum fans is not that we are doing so well after a couple of extremely trying seasons (although obviously that doesn't help) but all the positive attention we're receiving -- our style of play, the GIFs, our passionate support, the success of the Academy, our well-run club, our celebrity supporters, the whole shebang. Back in the day there wasn't much to choose between the clubs but we've kicked on while they've floundered on and off the pitch. 1990, laid to rest, we won the title while they finished second - in the Conference. Their saviour - who was going to at least restore parity - has turned out to be an utter charlatan. Previously the only straw they could clutch at was that they were somehow the cuddly toy of Westcountry football, whereas we were disliked by all and sundry. I remember some clown called "Centenary Gas" talking about how "not even Millwall" invaded the pitch to attack players, like somehow our fans were the worst on the planet. Bristol City were somehow the bete noir of the whole footballing world, we've got unlimited money to spend - a gaping hole blown through that theory when we come up against a club who really do fall into that category and hold our own. They feel some desperate need to believe, "Well, they've left us in the dust but at least we are likable." It's a prejudice they've invested everything in, and it's all come crashing down around their ears. I let that screed of squid ink and lies from that truly objectionable individual on the Man City forum get under my skin a bit last night, and in the cold light of day you can understand why they're so bitter. They've got nothing left, nothing.

  8. Yeah, it was very similar to the games against Burton, Bolton etc but much like Preston they actually had some quality on the counter to damage us. They'll be very happy with that performance. I don't know why none of our midfielders try to break the lines in these sorts of games though. It just goes side to side to side. We never try and disrupt their shape with runners from midfield.

  10. A game we should have won, we were technically better all day, but today showed up how we over complicate our play and when that goes wrong we put ourselves in danger. Our crossing was shocking and Bryan the worst offender, or free kicks lack any invention whatsoever, we barely created a worthwhile chance all game. We had more than enough bodies in the box for their goal but the poor marking and lack of closing down was amateurish and a throwback to last season. Last week the sky super computer predicted that we would end up coming 8th and on this performance they are correct. Disappointing to say the least. That all said I have decided to be generous with my marks, but there needs to be a lot of improvement and without doubt IMHO we need a right back and even more so a striker. Fileding 6 Little or nothing to do and let down by his midfield and defence for the goal. Wright 6 Defensively OK, offers nothing going forward. Flint 7 Played well and gave everything as usual. Baker 7 Also cool, calm and collected. Bryan 6 Defensively fine but his crossing was awful. Brownhill 6 Not up to his usual standard today, apart from his shot that hit the woodwork. Walsh 7 Some neat touches, looks a find. Pack 6 Couldn’t fault his effort, just never happened for him today. Smith 6 Same as Pack. Patterson 6 Tried his best but another not on his game today. Reid 6 Same as Patterson. Subs:- Firstly I thought taking Walsh off was a mistake, I would have taken Brownhill off. Kent 6 Obviously a talent but should have scored with a good chance. Taylor 3 Not championship quality, now doesn’t even off er anything coming off the bench. Magnússon 6 Did nothing wrong. LJ 5 I thought today we looked sluggish and bereft of ideas in the last third of the pitch, we never properly tested their keeper, we need a lot of crossing and free kick practice because today it was lousy. But having said that any danger today was self inflicted. And as I said I believe we need a right back and a striker, over to you LJ.

  12. I think the whole team was knackered, that’s why using only one sub in Manchester was a strange decision imo. Coaches are very clever in this league, they are now well aware of how we play, and will set up to stop us in the first instance. We need a physical presence up top in some of these games, because Bobby Reid for all his skill and energy just can’t cope with the physical side and still create. The sooner our injured forwards get fit the better. The players have been fantastic, but the same ones can’t be expected to do it every game.

  13. No, you can express it. I just think you're expressing it like it's fact, which it isn't. I'm saying I think you should shut up.

  14. Just give Preston whatever they want for Hugill. He'd have made the difference today. Well, he would have had our crossing not been so crap.

  16. If we are just going to rely on 2 loan players to strengthen in Jan then it’s another promotion chance wasted unfortunately. Neither of them have played any football this season. Can’t expect them to come in and do much. Kent has played about 15 minutes since October and completely killed us today.

  19. Final ball been very bad. Just looked really toothless in and around the box, plus our set pieces are still not good enough. Can’t remember the last time we scored from one?

  20. Very laboured performance so far, playing very deep with no support for Reid, quality missing in the crossing and passing.. Norwich well organised , and passing well. We really do need Fam and Duric back for games like this, to hold the ball up in the final third. All to play for .

  31. Well, if we’re not sure, imagine Norwich will struggle to figure it out! If you factor in Bobby only moving up top this year, we’re playing with no recognised striker - plenty of potential for runs from midfield and interchanging positions; could be very interesting to see how Norwich cope. 32. Yeh I'd expect Pack to sit deepest of the three. Reckon they'l be fairly fluid though, Smith is capable of going forward, and Pack will take on a shot from the edge of the box if called upon. Early days for Walsh but he did have that one little foray into the Man City box didn't he. I'd hope to see them passing and moving, advancing and covering for each other and all the while allowing Brownhill and Pato to help Reid out. Also, how nice is it to see Bryan back at LB, and to know that in Mags there's more than capable cover on the bench if needed.

  39. I actually think SL having a stake in UWE would be a very good idea. At present the U23 side use Failand, Twerton, Clevedon, Weston (or was that for an away fixture?) Bristol Sport also has to accommodate any non first team rugby games, plus the Women's team (based at Stoke Gifford) are all dotted around. If a small, say 5000 capacity stadium was built there I think it would prove useful as a home for these sort of sides.

  43. I can’t like this post enough. We are superior to them in every tangible way, so they invented an intangible delusion that they’re “more liked” than us. The recent blaze of good quality PR has burst that particular illusion and as you said they’re left with absolutely nothing to hang on to. Hence the childish tantrums and the dredging up ad nauseum of events of nearly 40 years ago. I’d feel sorry for them if they weren’t such a dispicible rabble. The opposite of love is not hate, its indifference and that’s what the footballing world feels towards them. Utter indifference.
