  1. Maggers

The guy has barely had a game all season. He came in and played out of position in a huge match and helped us win. Yes he was wasn't brilliant, but neither were Bobby Reid, Callum O'Dowda and Josh Brownhill for most of last season. But acknowledging they had potential they continued to get chances and they've been outstanding this season. Bobby has been work in progress for years and look at him now! Joe Bryan has also had significant and unnecessary criticism on this forum in recent seasons and now looks like a world beater. I wish we could encourage and support our younger players and build, not knock, their confidence. Everyone wants instant success these days...sack the manager, write off the player, etc, etc. It's such short term, small minded thinking. Well done Hörður for the assist for the goal which won us 3 points yesterday. I hope you continue to get chances to support the team as an important member of our squad.
  2. Joey Bryan is fkucnig quality

I'd be surprised if there aren't bids for Joe Bryan in January. My hope is that the bids are from relegation threatened Prem clubs and we are in a strong position at the time and Joe feels like he has a chance of getting promoted with his home club in the knowledge that he'll probably get more bids in the summer if we don't (as is obviously more likely) go up. I'm also hoping for an EFL cup win, automatic promotion and a small lottery win, but Joe staying with us seems more realistic than the others. Fingers crossed. Great game tonight and a great season for him so far. Really turning into a superb player and so much stronger physically these days.
  3. Luke Steele

I thought Steele was excellent tonight and it's very harsh for anyone to say he looked ropey. Great performance and kept us in the game. He's looked very good in all his cup games and gives me real confidence that we finally have two strong first team standard keepers. I haven't analysed Saturday's match tbh, but at first viewing didn't blame Frankie for our goals conceded. Another example of our improved strength in depth this season. Well player Luke.
  4. High quality midfielder required in Jan

I agree, I think we've needed a really top quality midfielder who can create goals and score a few for years. The difficulty is we play with two forwards and two lightweight wingers, so he would need to be combative as well. Sounds expensive, but if we're still in the mix in January, perhaps it's worth rolling the dice and spending some serious money to have a shot at the play-off's? But then again, it's not my money. A top striker would also be excellent, but I'd agree that we have goals in us already and we haven't even seen Đurić and barely seen Taylor yet and we'd need to move someone on if we brought in another. To add to this I think it's important we don't lose anyone. Flint showed last night how important he is for us and I am sure he'll be subject to numerous bids. All in all the best squad for as long as I can remember and a top midfielder would make a real difference.
  5. New kit

Has anyone else found a solution to the itchy neck problem? Is it a bad batch, or are they all the same? My 9 year old won't wear it as it itches too much. We've washed it and he's tried a few times, but he can't bare it. Any ideas?
  6. Jamie Paterson

Based on yesterday's match I would say: Paterson was excellent and easily my MOTM. He beat players time and time again, was composed, confident and topped it with an excellent goal. Taylor did a lot of running and undoubtedly helped create space for Tammy. However he looked like an L1 player to me, who wouldn't get into another Championship team. I very much hope he can make the step up, but I didn't see evidence of it v Wolves personally. Excellent performance and team selection worked well this time. Let's hope Paterson can bring that sort of performance more regularly.
  7. I agree with the OP, the hatred is too personal and unnecessary. Being calm and rational If I was him I wouldn't resign, I'd keep trying my best and hope I could turn it 'round. What else can he do? He's hardly going to resign and walk out on a 5 year contract. Would you? The decision is with the Board, not the Manager. Of course people are free to express their dissatisfaction with performances, but what's the guy supposed to do? I have stuck with him longer than most and respect SL for trying his hardest to be loyal, but LJ finally lost me a few weeks ago and I no longer believe he can manage us effectively. My only hope was that Pemberton would again steady the ship and give us a lift, but now he has gone I am sadly starting to contemplate that relegation now looks likely. But I do agree with the OP, Johnson is doing his best. I don't hate him and lay responsibility for the clubs position at the owner/board, not the Manager, who is simply an employee doing his best to earn a living. I'll support us to the last kick, but am not sure I have another L1 season in me. Am sure I'll come 'round though.
  8. Just maybe......

Johnson gave a great half-time team talk. Johnson addressed the problems of the first half, such as the problem of Abraham being isolated, Johnson made 3 good substitutions who all impacted the game positively. Johnson deserves some credit for a strong start to the season, his part in some great signings, as well as doing some good business for the club. Many (including me) felt the jury was out following his appointment, but credit where's it's due. After being slated in a post last week, perhaps he may be considered to be in the very early stages of building us a brighter future.....just maybe.......
  9. Just Maybe

I thought we matched a decent team and you are talking total bo***cks!
  10. Bryan's goal

I had a very modest bet on Bryan to score the last goal and they have paid up. Watching the replay I though Kodjia got the slightest of touches, but am happy with the decision to award it to Joe. If I had had a big bet I would be checking the t's and c's carefully now about changes to results of bets already paid out.
  11. Sorry LJ you got that horribly wrong

This is nonsense! Little was not fit, so LJ had very few options. He played a young local lad who had just won his first game. So easy to berate the Manager afterwards; but I applaud the decision. We can't all moan about managers not playing youngsters and then complain when they make mistakes. I agree with the comments about how much we missed Baker though.
  12. Holloway (Topics merged)

We are in a mess and need the best manager possible and that is Holloway; we all need to put the past to one side and think about the future. It doesn't sit easy, but nor does awful football and relegation! Location would be good for him, but I am not sure why else he would come though.
  13. Retro Items

Thanks for your reply Richard. I think that if the items were good then they would sell. Maybe fan feedback prior to final designs would help. I think that the incider are going to satisfy demand for now and that they will plough any profits back into the club in one form or other, so the club will benefit in the end.
  14. Retro Items

Living abroad now I haven't seen the shop for a while so forgive me if this is now covered, but...... I think that there would be good demand for some retro items of fans favourties. The main one would be Jackie t-shirts. When he was playing a huge number of people used to wear them using the Polish solidarity logo. You still see people wearing them to this day, even now and again in London many years on. If they were trendy and good quality they would be popular. It is great for the youngsters to wear their current favourites, but many fans a little older would go for this type of thing. We have had some great players and it would be good to have some nice t-shirts, etc, displaying this. I would proudly wear a Jacki tshirt, or Alan Walsh, etc. Just an idea. If you do it let me know I would buy a load of Jacki tshirts as presents. Excuse me for not writing his full name, as I struggle with the spelling.
