That's the kind of thinking that gets you a job at the big 6! Go for it!
Its not about us it's about all the clubs further down the pyramid whose entire seasons can get changed by a cup run. Though I'm sure SL was very happy with 2 sold out home games this year. And some of our best FA cup results have come in replays.
The stitch up by the Fa in 1992 ,that resulted in the formation of the premier league, meant that the rest of the pyramid no longer mattered to them. Since then the premier league tail has been wagging the football pyramid dog - as evidenced by this latest decision.
Until recently the premier league had money to spare, as long as as little of it as possible trickled down the pyramid, and for them the FA Cup was an unwelcome distraction from the more important business of premier league success/survival and ever expanding European competitions.
Having seen some of the eye watering losses more and more premier league clubs are posting, the irony now is that some of them might need lucrative cup runs ( including replays) to bring in additional revenue to help balance the books!

How long before PL clubs have a note from their Mums asking for them to be excused taking part in the FA Cup?

More clubs are adversely affected by this decision than the ones that influenced it.

It's not a British thing about ' Nostalgia '.
I have many friends in Italy and other European countries who all said we are nuts for pulling down old stadiums, like Highbury and parts of Villa etc.
Anything designed by Archie Leitch defined British football.
I know it's Archibald Leach!

chelsea sold hotels to themselves to stay within ffp (76m value)
https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/chelsea-wages-todd-boehly-ffp-32580676
whats the rules on property sales these days? value and approval needs to be given by the league, so they need to be worth 76m or more for it to be allowed.
listening on talk sport they have only sold the property and have kept the revenue streams from the hotel
Thinking back to when Derby "sold" their stadium, they had to show a market rent for being able to continue using the ground.
Accordingly, surely if Chelsea is to continue to enjoy the revenue stream from a hotel they no longer own, they must pay a market rent to the new owner, otherwise it would be even more of a sham transaction than it already is!
In the wake of Derby, Wednesday and Stoke all exploiting the loophole the EFL left in their revised ffp rules, I think I'm right in saying that loophole has since been closed.
It would appear that the Premier League administrators were not quite so quick to plug the loophole that allows a club to sell an asset to an interested third party.
I would not be surprised see that Man City's lawyers will be able to drive a coach and horses through the 100+ charges brought against them. Not because they are innocent of the charges, but because it seems that footballs administrators are to naive and cannot see how devious clubs ( especially the wealthiest, with money to afford top accountants and legal advisers) will cheat in order to gain an advantage.

I’m judging things on the 6 months Manning has been here, not the 5 end of season games that have no meaning to them.
They'd have had meaning to them had he lost all 5!

Sat and chatted to his Mum and Dad at Scunny years back. They were sat behind the goal with City fans - really nice couple.

I wonder if there is any correlation, example, or evidence that links "finishing strong" in one season with a strong start to the following one?
The idea that good results in April 2024 will increase the chance of good results in August 2024 has the feeling of a classic football cliché to me.
A game of two seasons?

There is a science to that rule...
Given the number of exceptions to the rule, it seems to me there is more of a seance to it.

The Leicester forum (Foxes-talk) is a good read at the moment. If anyone thinks that Manning has had a hard time on this forum should read the ‘Enzo Out?’ thread. Bearing in mind they’re top of the league with four games to go, the poll shows that 88% think that their manager should be sacked! Even talk of Warnock on there
Is our Seagull posting on there as well?

I can remember playing double headers at the end of season in the District League, but never hepta headers!

God can you imagine if they didn't go up at all. At least they'd be avoiding a points deduction
1 minute ago, Mr Popodopolous said:Well if they stay down, they would be walking into a potential Embargo and Business Plan which if anything can be more damaging and a Business Plan included targets to hit by March, or it is points as well.
Even if they pass FFP to this year, they may have to as per the protocol arrange some kinda future looking Business Plan with the League which has targets among other things for Player Sales, Amortisation, Wages etc. Limits on expenditure, aim to keep a club compliant etc.
If they sell e.g. Dewsbury-Hall to pass to this year, who do they sell for sufficient Profit by March from the start of 2024-25 Reporting Period. They would be far better served by going up.
Embargo can restrict renewal of existing players but again it depends.
Right there's the definition of " between a rock and a hard place"!

Plenty of occasions were City is concerned, to paraphrase Eric Morecambe, you've got all the right words, but not necessarily in the right order!

I didn't follow this. Did we get relegated or not?!
No, but we've not picked up a single point in the last 24 hours, so if this is extrapolated over a full season then we are absolute certainties to be relegated next season and therefore can look forward to playing a Bristol derby in 25/26.

Probably not and especially so when you've got umpteen millions in parachute payments to hand.

There are a great many who are not in either of these camps. They roll with it to a large extent, sometimes up, sometimes down, sometimes frustrated and exasperated, but always hoping for the best, and at least a little entertainment. We all lose our composure a bit form time to time, but quite a lot on here and elsewhere are less extreme than those polarised at either end of the spectrum. In the end, both factions truly have our best interests at heart otherwise they are wasting large chunks of their existence here and at games. What I will note from somewhere here in the centre is that the critical elements are generally far more reasonable, erudite and analytical, backing up their arguments (and inviting critique) whether one might agree with them or not. On the other side, there is a lot of blind faith and entrenchment but rarely much detail as to why they hold their position. Loyalty over logic also plays a significant part. That is just my view, for what it is worth. I'd really love to hear detail from the pro Manning side (not really Manning, as such, it is the "in "x" (insert name of latest incumbent) we trust" mentality), what it is specifically that they have seen evolve, how it has evolved, how it might evolve and what might need improvement, etc.
Like you, I'm somewhat in the middle on this as I would have been happy for Pearson to continue ( although I think many view his time in charge, particularly more lately, through rose coloured glasses) and do think Manning has made mistakes, although have seen signs that I think auger well for the future - if he is given the chance!
I think Manning's appointment was against a background of growing antipathy towards the owner and senior management at the club, which came to a crescendo with the timing and manner of Pearson's sacking, and think this has affected how he has been viewed by some fans.
I don't think any fans really want to see us lose, but do think that some, who have an axe to grind with the running of the club, are happy to "point out" Manning's failures, as it enables them to reinforce the fallacy of the club's decision to sack Pearson. This has led to many things under Manning being compared to Pearson, so that Manning's successes are credited to Pearson ( his players/formation/tactics), whereas poor results and/or performances are put down solely to Manning.
Hopefully , if Manning can continue to produce results and performances, as he has recently, and with greater consistency then hopefully he offers less ammunition for those arguments. Then perhaps the forum can get back to a degree of normality and where every other thread does not descend into a Manning v Pearson debate/argument.
Having said that, how often in the fairly recent past, and under various managers, do we seem to have had moaners v happy clappers discussions, so perhaps , as @RoystonFoote'snephew says it's down to Bristolian's natural pessimism/negativity!

It will be exactly the same as this season’s kit “in homage to our famous 5-0 win against Blackburn in 2024”.
It will cost £80 and they will make 15 of them, which will sell out within an hour. 13 will be returned because the collars are faulty. More stock will be supplied in April 2025.
With 4 gold stars over the crest to commemorate the wins against Blackburn, Leicester, Saints and WHam.
