  1. I think it was a 0-0 draw at Cardiff, Jonathan Kodjia should have won it for us near the end. Maybe 2016/17?
  2. The Bradford City fire (11/5/85) was just over 2 weeks before Heysel (28/5), 2 horrific and tragic events. I am pretty sure that we had one of our worst home matches for violence - yes Millwall - only a few weeks earlier. As you say, violence and dangerous stadia. Grim times.
  3. It's also worth noting that, if we had beaten Stoke away, we would have finished 2nd, assuming that every other result had remained the same. The problem with that assumption is would we have breezed past Preston on the final day if a place in the Premier League was up for grabs?
  4. Marlon Pack scored one against Birmingham in a 3-1 home win in April 2018. I also think he scored with a free kick against Port Vale although this would have been pre-Tomlin. I am pretty sure that the Birmingham game was the one when Fammy got done for spitting. Love the BP headline! 'Marlon Pack more like Lionel Messi' - fans heaps praise on Bristol City players - Bristol Live (bristolpost.co.uk)
  5. Melanie, died aged 76 . Best known for Brand New Key and appearances at Glastonbury and Woodstock. RIP. Melanie, 'Brand New Key' Folk Singer Who Played Woodstock, Dead at 76 (rollingstone.com)
  6. I don't think many fans remember quite how bad Paul Cheesley was when he joined us from Norwich for 30k ln 1973. He seemed slow, couldn't really hold the ball up or affect the game in any way. What a transformation for season 75/76 when his goals, hold up play and presence in and around the box spearheaded our promotion season followed by the opening day winner at Highbury. By the time he got that knee injury against Stoke he was always going to be a club legend, buy he was really poor in his first season, and yes, the fans let him know it..
  7. Thanks for that, I think someone mentioned that they had been sent a ticket on an e-mail to print at home, so will hopefully be sorted, at least for the PNE game.
  8. I wonder if someone can help with something that is niggling me (hopefully needlessly). I received my e-mail with the digital ticket. I have never really used the google wallet but have 2 debit cards in it. I did what seemed to be the "right" thing and added the ticket to my wallet, but it just never appeared there. I have gone back to this a few times and tried to add the ticket to my wallet and it just says "already added". Does anyone know if I can just show the ticket from the e-mail when I turn up on Saturday. The club have not let me have a physical ticket as I have a smartphone so that route has been blocked off! Thanks for in advanced for any good advice. (
  9. Went to that Mott the Hoople concert. Loads of people went to the bar before the interval just to get away from the noisy support band, who seemed so out of date compared to the Bowie-esque MTH. For Queen to go from that, to producing stuff such as The Seven Seas of Rye/Killer Queen/Bohemian Rhapsody in a couple of years was astonishing. I could have also claimed to have seen Genesis supporting Lindisfarne and Van Der Graaf Generator in 1972 at the CH. Only problem was that they broke down on the motorway. As people were mainly there to see the top 2 on the bill (weird combination, but that was how it was with multiple line ups) a big cheer went up when we were told we wouldn't have to sit through Genesis! And all for 30 new pence! Melody Maker – Genesis – Van Der Graff Generator – Lindisfarne – Tour advert – 23rd January – The Genesis Archive
  10. It matched their performance tonight, especially with the bat. An absolute shocker!
  11. Went to the game today and, although Glos were efficient, Middlesex looked like they had lost before they had started. Their body language was dire. I have seen plenty of teams that are a bit thin on talent, but to go into what was a winnable game for them (given that we beat them in the last over of the away match last week and that could have gone either way) and not show any sign of fight or positivity says it all.
  12. Yes he was, until he joined us! IIRC he looked nothing like the player we thought we had signed, only played a handful of games (just checked, not even a handful - 3 games). We do seem to attract more than our fair share of these types of players.
  13. Yes, I am pretty sure he was.
  14. I remember going to Hillsborough for a 3rd round match in early December (1999), can't remember the reason the 3rd round was being played early. Lost 1-0 to Wednesday, rubbish game and result under the management of Pulis, nearing the end of his days with us. No atmoshphere in a Hillisborough crowd of under 12,000. What a fun day that was! Sheffield Wednesday v Bristol City, 11 December 1999 - 11v11 match report
  15. I am pretty sure the announcer said there would be "a period of silence which will be ended by the Referee's whistle" which was actually what happened, although the "period of silence" only lasted about 2 seconds. I distinctly remember the "period of silence" being stated as I thought that it was unusual, as I am sure that I had read somewhere (the OS?) that there would be one minute's silence.
