  1. I listened to this interview with it playing in the background, but did I hear right when JL said that we're looking for outside investment, with no mention from him of looking to sell? Could I be putting two and two together and thinking that SL\JL probably don't want to fund the transfers (certainly not as much as they have done) and would be reliant on someone else to come in and foot the bill? But until then we keep spending what we make off of transfer sells?
  2. This basically sums up where we were when Nigel Pearson first took over. We were at a point where we were shipping a lot of goals and we couldn't even win a corner. Rather than try to instill a particular style or flavour that Nigel Pearson preferred, he basically played a lot more percentages and used the tools at his disposal, which was basically play off of Chris Martin and gets the likes of Semenyo and Weiman to run off him. It wasn't pretty, but it did a job, unlike the likes of Sean O'Driscoll who IMO tried to change the philosophy too quickly, and ultimately led to our relegation. I've a lot of time for NP, and he got the team playing a couple of different styles in his time with us, and that's probably why it was so disappointing that we didn't get to see his ideal line up on how he wanted us to play in the long term. I genuinely thought given time he would create a team not only to get us promotion, but keep us in the top division. He almost had the succession planning for himself in place with the likes of Andy King and\or Jason Euell. But back on subject though, the above also seems to be the approach the likes of Neil Warnock has taken - get the players back to basics, make them hard to beat, compete for everything up top, and scrimp & scrape those points for safety. It's only once the season is over and a fresh new season comes about that this approach get's found out. I'll look forward to seeing what Rohl does next season, but it sounds like he knows his onions and I'd expect them to be mid-table easily.
  3. Can't remember who said it, but there's also that quote....."The more I practice, the luckier I get !!"
  4. I recently got a flag from here. Quick turnaround, allowed my custom images, and best of all came with a fire retardant safety certificate. https://ultrasdesign.co.uk/
  5. It bloody annoyed the hell out of me listening to the West Brom commentary, and no matter how biased that Andy Johnson was (dirty gashead b*****d) - there was elements of truth to what he was saying. We aren't very good, and the perception of how we're being run isn't very good either. I hope the board members listened to that, because we're turning into a laughing stock, with ex-gas taking the piss.
  6. Can't really disagree with any of that. I suppose ultimately it all boils down to the trust that SL has with JL to run the club in the best possible way. At this juncture, it's very much looking like someone else could do a better job, but saying that, when SL had other CEO's running the club he had his fingers burnt - so I suspect there are trust issues there.
  7. I can categorically say that I am NOT suggesting the Lansdown's heart hasn't been in it, because I think they have put a lot of time, effort and money into the club, I just feel they're just losing their sense of direction nowadays and aren't reading the room any more. I'm merely commenting on Scott Davidson's previously putting his heart into the roll. Please don't infer it any other way.
  8. Not sure if this is the correct thread to be placing this comment, but I wonder if Scott Davidson would be open to coming back as Chairman, with JL moving into a different position i.e. President etc. Always thought that Scott had the ambition and communication skills for the role. He never got things 100% right, but his heart was in the right place, and he's still heavily involved with various Bristol City related projects still.
  9. Not too sure I should be posting this, as I would be one of the fans severely affected by this suggestion, but here goes nevertheless. Next season, if we have a home cup match in the league cup, how about making the whole of South South unreserved seating - still guarantee season ticket holders can get a ticket in that stand, but make it unreserved. The likelihood is that the game won't be a sell out, so we should be able to absorb the 10% less tickets available. It might just be the ideal test bed to see if there's a demand for unreserved seating in that stand?
  10. I've decided to delete my comment, as it was a cheap shot and not very nice.
  11. Just reading back this thread, a couple people mentioned Steve Lansdown was in attendance yesterday. Can I ask, is that unusual? With not being able to see the centre executive box from the South Stand, it's rare for me to know is SL is in attendance or not?
  12. I'm glad you mentioned that. Bath Rugby I believe, after a torrid number of years, brought in someone to evaluate their club...might have been a consultant or someone from Saracens (I'm not entirely sure as i dont follow rugby in too much detail), but since that process a year or so ago, their performances have been much better, and they're towards the top end of the table. Question is though, from a footballing perspective, who would you choose? Maybe the Brighton owner? Dunno
  13. Why does it have to be someone new? Swallow his pride, and Lansdown needs to go and get back the previous coaching set up. Our squad has been built for their philosophies, so let's attempt to get things back on track. I'm suspecting there's been some "tensions" between NP and others, so look to resolve those, either by letting someone go, change/revert their positions, or recruit accordingly. Can't we make Jon Lansdown an honourary president or something, and bring in a proper chairman? Likewise, bring in a proper experienced CEO and get Tinnion back to what he's good at.
  14. Exactly this. It was right footer crossing, so the wall could've stepped once to the left with two people in it. Reminded me of the goal Liverpool scored vs Forest last weekend in injury time. So it should've been fresh in our players minds.
