  1. Academy success

I have read it, and I'm sure everyone wants something for nothing. Personally I think City already does engage with the wider community, and whilst it could clearly do more, there is no reason why it needs to be at this particular facility. Just my view and I appreciate others see it differently.

Good response mate. I do understand how it works, I just dislike the automatic planning gain approach. As you say many of the objectors are self serving. I would personally prefer City to make facilities and personnel available voluntarily rather than as a planning condition, and i'm sure that they do just that for the benefit of the wider community. It just doesn't have to be this facility in my view.
  3. frustrating!!

    Quite so...
  4. Academy success

I have never bought into the routine planning gain approach which appears to be a pre requisite of any substantial development. Why should everything be for the wider community to use? The golf club is presumably for anyone in the community who can shell out a couple of thousands of pounds a year in subscriptions. A development for a place of specific worship by its very nature excludes vast sections of the community without any planning demands. Just because local authorities are shit at spending public money, I dont personally see why the private sector should pick up the slack. Just by view of course.
  5. frustrating!!

We are becoming a corporate monster and a husk of the BCFC I fell in love with whilst in league 1 and the Championship and will continue to do so. The only consolation is that if we went up, BS would slaver over newbies and price out long time fans and then have to grovel when we came back down as Tristram from Southville decided he wanted to follow Manchester City and Real Madrid instead.
  6. Academy success

Most objectors appear to be members of Long Ashton golf club.
  7. Academy success

Done. Nimby's at it again I see though.
  8. Joe Bryan for Manchester Utd?

Back in the day when the top flight wasn't full of millionaire foreigners. C'mon chaps this is a daft thread isn't it.Lower end Prem might take a punt, or a newly promoted side but United...?
  9. Bristol Rovers Dustbin Thread

I didn't even know Bristol was considered a metropolis. 6 or 7 metropolitan areas in the UK and we aint one of them. But of course St Andrews gas leak knows that and was just having fun with they gurt thick teds.
  10. SECTION 82 - Prediction

Fair comment. Often a bit of a library without them.
  11. The Beatiful Game is Turning Ugly

Fantasy time here but imagine it happened at short notice, top six ****** off and we made the playoffs which were then cancelled in favour of promoting the top six champ sides. I suspect all the talk of budgets FFP etc would be binned and SL would do all he could to make sure we gatecrashed the new top six/'elite whatever. Look at the current positions 7-20 clearly much bigger clubs than City but plenty of competitive teams who do not have to be "bigger" just are better run currently.
  12. SECTION 82 - Prediction

Blimey that would make for an enjoyable match experience wouldn't it !
  13. SECTION 82 - Prediction

I respect your view mate, and agree that the club won't want rid, at least whilst it couldn't sell those seats to other punters. If there was demand though from "nicer" folks, I think s82 would be dust. Just how I see it.
  14. SECTION 82 - Prediction

Yep the pyro didn't help but was eradicated, and I see sections of support standing all over the country with nowhere near the amount of attention afforded to "s82" The level of stewarding and policing at AG is excessive but no doubt it keeps Mr Storrie in the limelight so will continue.
  15. SECTION 82 - Prediction

I get your point BS3, but I think the placement of stewards and robocops around s82 makes it pretty clear they ain't liked. BS likes the revenue though.
