  1. Stood in front of the Dolman and even though I was only 12 I couldn't believe it had been 64years since we had been in the top division. Ran onto the pitch and still have a piece of the turf in a school book. I wrote about it the next day in English. Now it's been 37 years !!
  2. Great memories. It was played on a midweek afternoon because of the three day weeks at the time. I was only 10 and my Nan was looking after me as my Mum worked close by in a Grocer's shop. I kept running backwards and forwards to the shop to tell Mum how we were doing despite her having absolutely no interest ! One of the great moments when Donnie scored the winner. Saw the first game as well down at the gate. I had to stand on a wooden stool in the open end ! Can you imagine that now ?
  3. Best right back, Gerry Sweeney
  4. Got through at last, no apologies though.
  5. Trying to bring friends to the £10 offer on Saturday but nobody is answering the phones on any option !!! Just put the phone down after hearing music for 15 mins. What a way to be treated for wanting to bring new potential fans !!!!
  6. Frankie frustrates with the speed and accuracy of his distribution, not sure he could do anything about the goals. Thought Flint was outstanding. Won everything in the air and led by example.
  7. Who can actually prove he hasn't got the legs to last 90 minutes ? I would start him every game and not bring him on so predictably with half an hour to go.
  8. Anyone else noticed that recently the quality of the beer has deteriorated considerably ?. Lager was like water on Tuesday and the Butcombe yesterday was almost undrinkable. Think I'll buy my drinks outside the ground in future.
  9. My hero as a child and had the good fortune to play against him when he had finished as a professional. A gentleman on and off the field. get well soon Trevor
  10. Dolly, Having watched the unveiling it was stated that it might still be possible to add names to the plinth. Is this true ?
  11. Is it too late to buy a plaque ?
  12. Wasn't the match where the chap who died whilst playing in a marching band the League Cup semi final 2nd leg v Notts Forest in 1989 ?
  13. We need experience up front . That's it plain and simple and just a bit younger than Mr Wilbraham who I will always hold in the highest esteem for his eagerness to give his time off the pitch as well as giving his all on it
  14. We are new season ticket holders and have seats in the Dolman. Soaked up the atmosphere behind the South Stand then walked around behind the Dolman to find the turnstiles. On the way a fire door was open with some smokers outside. We entered through this door without being checked . I approached an official looking chap and explained how we had entered. He was very shocked and I fear for the bloke who was on the door that we entered through. Still didn't go through Ny turnstiles ! Just a thought that anyone could have got in that way and I hope security is tightened. Great day apart from that in a magnificent stadium.
