  1. Cold water, shocking PA

I'm not in the role anymore but one thing I prided myself on was being a City fan and knowing what to play... and what not to play. Sometimes the playlist was tailored as to who we were playing and on a few occasions, the opposing manager too. In my opinion, pre-match music isnt just there for background purposes - it should be there to add to the atmosphere... I never played Roni Size, but tried to play Massive Attack where possible. Marie - I am humbled by "bring back Tim Shires" and would come back in a heartbeat. But in defense of the announcer in question and the PA System in general, its had issues from the day it was installed. Admittedly, I identified one of the major issues straight away but it took quite a bit of time until my advice was taken into consideration - which turned out to be correct (mic paddles). I worked well with the installers of the PA and had a good relationship with them but that was cut short in the summer. So any issues going forward were out of my hands! Matt, we havent met but think you are doing a great job so far. I've offered to Mark Kelly to assist with matchday music. Let me know if you fancy a chat!
  2. Manchester Press Conference

There isn't one. There are some quotes from Mourinho talking about the game being released some time soon, either later this evening or early tomorrow morning.
  3. Potential Bristol City podcast.

Well for anyone who remembers, myself and Dave L used to do a regular podcast about 4/5 seasons ago. In all honesty, it was a strange situation because the club were all up for it but there was no budget for it. But we tried to provide a different insight into the club that was available at the time. Chatting to players in a more lighthearted way than you would normally hear and trying to give a different angle to interviews rather than the normal serious stuff and giving fans a chance to get to know the players for who they are as people away from the pitch. I remember doing an interview with Steve Lansdown for the podcast and he allowed me to ask him questions that the normal media wouldnt go near. Same with Derek McInnes. I was disappointed the club didnt get more behind it at the time but I also know the media department and budgets etc were up in the air and the club were going through lots of changes so I understand why it didnt get the attention I hoped it would. At the time, the podcast got great feedback and myself and Dave were pleased with what we were doing given the limited resources to produce it. I was gutted we couldnt justify continuing it but thats just how it was at the time. I look back on it and think we were onto something great, and maybe we were! But unfortunately, times are moving very quickly these days and what we were doing back then on the podcast is out of date now. Things like the YouTube Head 2 Head quiz the club did recently - we did something similar on the podcast. It worked then but it wouldnt work now. Im all in support of a podcast - but if someone wants to make it work - it has to be something really cutting edge or an angle of the club that people havent been able to access before. Think outside the box - does it need to be a podcast? Youtube videos or Fan TV seems to be the current trend.... Perhaps go down that route? Im not trying to burst the bubble here by any means!! Im just saying that if you want to do something that will work, maybe look beyond a podcast!
  4. Dolman PA (Merged)

    @Mkelly Give me a call.
  5. Tim Shires sacked?

Well I hope not!! But.... although Ive told this story before - in memory of my late brother, I love bringing it up as it sums him up as a person..... Early in the 2008/09 season, we were playing Peterborough in the League Cup - my first season working for club. A call came through to reception saying that Mr Peter Barragh's wife had gone into labour and he needed to go home urgently. Myself and David Lloyd were on mic duty that night and we both received the message. However it was Dave L that was the one who made the announcement. "PETER BARRAGH - GO HOME URGENTLY. PETERBOUROUGH - GO HOME!" It was only after the announcement that Dave and myself realised it was a prank. The worst part was, turns out - the culprit was my brother (who sadly passed away in 2015). Im glad that Dave and the club saw the funny side! I was angry at my bro at the time for landing me in it - but looking back now, his sense of humour will live long in my memory from that night!
  6. Tim Shires sacked?

Sometimes, things happen that are out of my hands and I start to question myself "is it something Ive done wrong". Today was one of them. But the messages Ive had from City fans has been amazing. Truly amazing. I was just doing a job that I loved and although I cant do that anymore, I will always support the team on the pitch and I'll be up in the stands making myself heard as much as possible with all you lot! Thank you to each and every one of you who has tweeted me or replied on here. Changes happen in any work environment and City is no different. I have no hard feelings towards the club and hope that everyone gets behind Downsy. I'd love to be back on the mic one day.... but in the meantime Im looking forward to getting behind the team from the stands and cant wait for the season to get started! COYR!
  7. Music

It was a technical fault. Without boring you with too much detail basically.... the device that plays out the fanfare and One for the Bristol City has a pitch slider on it (like on a turntable) and for some reason the pitch locked itself at -8 rather than 0 and wouldnt reset while it was playing! It was very unfortunate incident and sounded terrible I will admit. But will be double checking its all working fine ahead of the game on Sunday!
  8. Music

It was only confirmed yesterday. I did tweet it, and the club have listed it in the running order for the day on the main site.
  9. Music

I dont usually post the playlist online anywhere - mainly cos I'd get slated most weeks by @Tomarse (you cant always please everyone!!!) But just this once.... here is Sunday's playlist. 10. Music

Just putting it together as we speak. What did you want to know? Or do you have a request?
  11. Music at start of 2nd half

Well - how can I not now?! It has to be done!
  12. Tammy, Andy and Brighton...

As far as Im aware, Andy is now freelance.... so can say what he likes.
  13. Music at start of 2nd half

Thats the 3rd/4th positive comment about this track in this thread. I love it, to this day whenever I hear it I get goosebumps and remember the double winning season. But looking back - at the time - many people used to complain about it! I remember choosing that song at the start of the season with @Dave L. We chose it for several reasons..... 1) No other club in the country was playing it. 2) The title had significance - the stadium was being developed and we saw it as the "First steps" towards the future of the club. And finally, 3) Its a damn good piece of music that is spine tingling. Im very tempted to play it again on the last game of the season against Birmingham.....
  14. Tammy, Andy and Brighton...

Im sure people at Brighton - or any other club interested in him, will be doing as much due diligence on the player as possible. If interested, then they will be making 20, 30, 40 or more calls to gather as much info as possible. Calling the journalist who has probably spoken to him more than anyone else in the media is a simple wise move. Despite what some people think, Andy knows his stuff and for me personally, have always respected his opinion. The attitude of a player on and off the pitch is so important.... so its not a great surprise he got a call. Whatever Tammy does next though - he has a big future ahead of him.
