I never though that NP was doing a particularly good job (with the team) I understood his impact away from the playing side. I don't think I ever called for his head - I just questioned if we were going anywhere under him & if he was getting the best out of players - his record was pretty poor here generally & our dreadful home form, inability to string any results together were getting tedious. I thought timing was questionable, but not the overall decision to replace him. What I can't fathom, is the way his tenure here is looked back on by so many (mainly on here, in fairness) This a great forum for an opinion, so long as it's in line with what the vocal few think... present facts to question some of the opinions of situations & you get the everyone constructive face palm emoji from people who can't construct an counter to back up their own opinions... love it.!

Tinnion - absolute disaster who should never have been given the job & left with most people pitying him for the blight on his CV & impact on legendary status at the club.... MP - 61 W - 22 D - 22 L - 17 Win % - 36.07% PPG - 1.44 Pearson - one of the best managers we've had - the big name that many had craved, who was outrageously replaced with some people still fawning over his departure now..... MP - 131 W - 42 D - 31 L - 58 Win % - 32.1% PPG - 1.2 Well that's a little awkward..!

Comparing their time here - not their overall managerial career... I'm looking it up now & it seems that the "failure" (I agree, it was) of BT's time in charge here wasn't all that different to NP's time here.
-
I see your affection to NP goes beyond just his press conferences then.... I'm glad you've had the opportunity to aquaint yourself with his todger

Funnily enough I did that.! Transfermarket didn't list anything on the page it gave me & I wasn't that fussed about looking around for it. It just made me wonder how their stats might compare - seeing as there is some weird love in with NP, from some, yet Tinnions reign was a complete disaster.
-
It would be quite interesting to see Brian Tinnions managerial stats here - which were generally regarded as a disaster - compared to Nigel Pearsons. Of course, they both managed us in different divisions, but then our squad would have been equivalently different. I don't know how they'd actually stack up as Tinnions stats don't seem to be easily found - but I know for a fact that Pearsons were underwhelming. EDIT - also, on topic, has he not just tweeted a couple of factual references to the season just gone..? Academy players coming through - true. Finished higher than we have for several years - true. Progress..? Questionable I suppose - but factually correct. Of course he's going to look at the positive slant in his assements. Next season, with a summer window & pre-season under his belt, is the only fair way to judge LM. Personally I think he has done OK generally. Certainly alot of work to do & improvements to be made - but there were also some encouraging signs aswell. Next season will be interesting.!

That doesn't make him a bad loan signing - just an unlucky one.

Likewise - if we'd have followed up that Southampton win with wins against the beatable trio of QPR, Sheff Weds & Cardiff, with all other results being the same, then we'd be going into the final game just 1 point off the play-offs. We aren't a million miles away from challenging.

Not if we are competing against a 3 year offer. I don't think that's something we should be considering for him. 1 year, definitely. Possible an agreeable option on a 3nd year, based of appearances/availability during the 1st year.
-
I'd certainly offer him something that suits us - that then depends whether that is agreeable to him. Probably 1 year on a salary that fits our budgets. Problem being that he'd walk into any league 1 club on a 2 or maybe even 3 year deal. Plenty of other championship clubs would snap him up on a year or 2 deal. We'd probably need to offer him 2 years to stand a chance of getting him to sign it - so it really depends on whether we see value in that or whether we are confident in investing that wedge in a younger player. MJ has been excellent for us & I'd love to see him stay, but I think he'll get better/longer offers from elsewhere & that will sway him into a move away.

I find it hard to believe that this is genuine, as there are no spelling errors!

last games of the season,Wed lose Brum and Plymouth to win
Bar BS3 replied to Never to the dark side's topic in Football Chat
Agreed. Logistically it would be good if Brum & Plymouth stay up & Sheff Weds are a far more appealing fixture than Blackburn (way better away support aswell) Having said that - it would be somewhat pleasing to see Birmingham finally drop down to the humiliation of a league trip to the Mem.! What will be will be & with 4 teams battling to avoid the drop on the final day, it will make for interesting twists & turns as the matches unfold. -
Oh come on..! How can any of them not be overwhelmed by the excitement if winning 2 of their last 11 games. Results aside, they can be even more excited about having scored an aggregate total of 4 (four) goals during those last 11 games. If that isn't something to get the juices flowing with excitement, I don't know what is..! There is "something special" happening. Goodnight Gasheads.!
-
Manning himself always says don't get over excited by the wins & don't get to down about the losses. If only some of our fans would actually listen to him & let him get on with his job.! It's too early to judge him properly. He needs a summer window & a pre-season with the squad. Of course, it can take much linger than that still - but it will be interesting to see where we are around Christmas time, half way through next season & a good year under his charge. It looks like this season should see an improved points total on any season since LJ was here, so that's progress, albeit slow & steady.

We scored more in injury time tonight than they have in the last 7 games..!
