  1. Corner kicks.

Shouldn't every bloody player on the pitch be able to hit a decent corner with either foot! Or am I asking to much of professionals that have probably been kicking footballs since they were two year olds, spend hours training each week and are extremely well paid. And don't even start me on bringing a ball under control and making a ten yard pass accurately.
  2. In another thread have pointed out since 2016 my concession ticket in Dolman Wings has gone up 40.8% since 2016 just one year prices were frozen. Drink prices have also risen and now discount has been cut. It all adds up.
  3. SC&T/FAN/Supporters meeting

My concession ticket in the Dolman Wings will now be increased 40.8% since 2016. There was one year it was frozen. My state pension has risen by less than 3% in the same years. My favoured drink Thatcher's has risen by 5% since the Man Utd game and now the discount has been reduced by 5%. All this adds up and people who think us old uns are ali well off do not know the full circumstances. A lot of us support our children and their families who may also be struggling in these times. If I give up my pre match drink the price hike will not affect me but the club will still benefit as they only take a percentage of the pint price where as they will take the full SC payment as clear profit. I will delay my SC purchase until the very latest early renewal date as at the moment the games on Saturday are my only release from a bit of a shit life I have for various circumstances.
  4. I wonder what the players think of their fans ?

I mentioned recently in another thread that when I was leaving the Dolman early ( yes I know ) a guy I passed asked me if there was a fire drill. Very drool. It was well into the two minutes of added time and we were winning 4-0. I told the guy I had a bus to catch and there's only half a minute left. He replied " but you have to clap the team off". Now don't get me wrong I have supported for the best part of 63 years and will cheer and encourage like any other but I don't feel I have to wait for the team to stroll over with their insincere pathetic clapping of hands to the crowd, regardless of how they have performed, and respond likewise. I have paid, to me a fair amount of money, to watch whatever has gone on beforehand. They are well paid for what they do. If anyone spouts up that it is a short career then like millions of others I have been made redundant, three times, and we have just got our asses into gear and got another job. Most players do not remain at clubs for very long and have no affiliation to the club or fans, it's a job. Gone are the days when it mattered to players about their club and how it affected the fans. I'm not even going to comment on how they get paid vast amounts at an early age and how it is likely to affect their behaviour.
  5. Actual attendances

Think the announcements at the stadium is "the attendance" not the actual bums on seats that myolman alluded to. Also the arguement put forward by the club to the council in regard to the conditions that apply to the club footing the bill for parking scheme.
  6. Match day income from sources other than tickets

Sneaked that one in for the Man U game. I thought I was the only one that noticed!
  7. Sheff Weds fans

Not the 80th minute. Added time was called and after a bit I walked down the Dolman steps, when the ball was in the stands, as I have a bus to catch at just after 5 pm. One lad I passed sang it to me. Told him there was only half a minute left, plonker. When I got to the concourse it was all over.
  8. The Wolves loss...

Still think it was all about game management against ten men and one nil up. Surely from Reid scoring we should have seen the game out. But no Flint is left up front, yes Frankie could have let their forward shoot and the game went level. We would have still been 10 v 11. But no we go down to 10 and a poor defensive wall and the game is all square.Pack pratts around with the ball instead of safety first. Unmarked man at the back post gets the winner.
  9. Better or worse without Pack

I believe Pack's only attribute that is not available to our midfielders last night is his heading ability. As Fulham rarely launched anything above grass height into this area I feel Pack was not missed at all. Probably the pace of our midfield was even more relevant then had Pack played.
  10. OTIB get together - 5 a side tournament?

Had an ankle replacement and told no impact sports. Mind I am 70 but I can still drop my shoulder and ghost a bit.
  11. Interesting talk at Senior Reds today

I also had deceptive pace. Looked a lot faster than I actually was.
  12. Guardian - The Knowledge

Back in the early 70s I was booked for swearing at one of my own team mates. Yes I know, but back in those days swearing was frowned upon. Throughout the rest of the game every time I heard a player swear I reminded the ref that he had booked me for it and was he going to take action against it. Obviously his little black book would have filled up quickly. So walking off after the game he sidled up to me and said he didn't think he would be reporting the booking.
  13. Liverpool coming to town...

Yep, iron railings all round the ground on my debut just a couple of years after your good self. Could have been the advertising boards or the half time score board ( was it still there at this time? ) that BW was imagining as a lot of these had wooden frames fixed to the railings. Seems when it comes to recalling past misdemeanours the reports get grossly exaggerated on here. A bit like the older I get the better a player I was!
  14. Game Management Today

Brilliant effort and game management except for one incident near the end. We had a free kick near the left hand corner flag. QPR sent four forward and we had to cover that leaving just Flint and one other in the box and we sent the free kick into the box when I felt we should have kept it in the corner and played short passes as QPR were only matching us for numbers in the corner. Great opportunity to have ran the clock down.
  15. Ever watched Rovers at home not playing City?

In I think 1968 went on a mystery darts outing from the Princess of Wales organised by the guvnorr Roy Savage to watch the Gas v Swindon. We were booked in as Swindon supporters to get a block of seats in the stand on the gasometer side of Eastville. Swindon won one nil. In the supporters club after and there were plenty of players in their as well. Then off to a pub on the A38 up in Gloucestershire for a meal and a good old session. Happy days.
