  1. Bivouac; bivouac shelter is any of a variety of improvised camp site, or shelter that is usually of a temporary nature..................... Seems an apt description.
  2. Glanced through the pictures, and there are a lot of them, and saw one team photo with Bobby "Shadow" Williams in it. Had forgotten he went to the gas after leaving us and going to Rotherham.
  3. When we were kids in the 50s/60s we were experts at diving out of site when the door was knocked. But in all fairness one duffer who called for years joined the company I was an apprentice for as a van driver. He didn't say a word to the other employees though.
  4. Blimey 40 minutes and nothing about the team not being present either! Everyone must be Christmas shopping.
  5. Is this Brexit PR by the French President associating with a rag tag bunch to wind up the Remainers.
  6. Was up on the Downs last week on a sunny afternoon buying an ice cream by the Sea Walls. Saw a sag with his shirt on looking upstream towards the Suspension Bridge. In the background the Lansdown Stand was glinting in the sunshine. I wondered what his thoughts might be as he stood there on top of the cliff?
  7. Roy and Madge Savage ran the gaffe in my day there 50 odd years ago.
  8. But would they have had Arsenal. First 11 numbers appear to be in alphabetical order. If they had beaten Wolves would they have been number 3. Then who would they have played?
  9. Have taken the same stance with regards to Cadbury/ Kraft and refuse to buy even though it causes much eye and slight head lifting from the rest of the family.
  10. Afraid it was a purple patch for the gas in the 10 years Vic played for them. 8 seasons they finished above us 2 of them in a higher league!!! So maybe not a mug.
  11. Vic Lambden was no mug either. Just checked Wiki 117 goals in 269 appearances including a 9 minute hat trick.
  12. PC World, you will have to watch what you say in there.
  13. Just seen the EP / BP headline of speculation of a stadium announcement after the Millwall game. Could be carnage all round!
  14. Probably, it was 1972 when we beat them 1 - 0 at home.
  15. Think that game was 1976 the only time I have taken the wife to see the City. She wanted to see Trevor Francis. Have read reports previously off trouble at the game can't remember any and when I asked the missus she said the same and she would never had let me forget it had there been any.
  16. Great stuff Bert but I think your 4-2-4 reference will be lost on the young uns. Keep it up.
  17. But had he been positioned a pace to his left he would have got a good hand to the ball and surely would still have been able to cover his right hand post if necessary.
  18. Was unable to get to the game today but have watched the highlights. Feel our keeper's positioning for the free kick was quite poor and not for the first time. Left far to much of the goal to his left ungaurded and invited the player to place the ball into an area he was unable to reach. Highlights really show this error in positioning. No wonder LJ was not happy.
  19. Dick Bradley, Johnie Hole, Peter Craven, Cliff Cox scavenge around the track picking up lemonade bottles to take back and get the deposits 3d each.
  20. Doowee Cheatham and Howe, from an old Eric and Ern sketch.
  21. Far less grand when at Telephone Avenue in a 1960s building.
