  1. Premier League Spending

It's an interesting debate. The flip side of the argument is that because of the demand for tickets at premier league matches that if tickets were cheaper they would end up in the hands of touts, who would then sell onto 'premier league tourists' for inflated costs because the demand is there. This will result in the true supporter of the club loosing out and not being able to watch their team at an affordable price. TV revenues are high because the premier league can offer decent, competitive football with full grounds; it makes for good TV. For it to be competitive all the EPL clubs need a stack of cash or you'll end up like other European leagues with a few good teams and the rest seemingly cannon fodder. Something needs to be done, but just lowering prices isn't necessarily the answer.
  2. Team against Wolves

We need Smith in midfield more than RB at the moment. I'd go Fielding Hegeler - Wright - Flint Cotteril - Smith - Brownhill - Bryan O'Dowda Wilbs - Tammy Hegeler has the quality and playing in a back three will not expose him as much as central midfield. Wilbs will be handy at set pieces at either end and won't let us down. Taylor can come on later. Energy in midfield and not risking whether Tomlin fancies it or not.
  3. Can anyone explain?

What not go 3-5-2 and have both a 5 man midfield that doesn't get over run and two up front to create and take chances? A point is little use to use in our situation. 5 wins in 10 games now needed = miracle.
  4. Match Day thread v Norwich

I'm livid at that line up. LJ's deliberately taking the piss.
  5. Pemberton gone?

Deliberately cowardly. The club know most fans will be pre occupied with the match, and once the game is over the announcement will be buried by the numerous interviews and reports that appear. All we'll be focused on then is either that LJ's lost yet again and needs to be strung up, or we've somehow managed to scrape a win and LJ's aiming for a top half finish.
  6. Pemberton gone?

That's because he was apparently so focused on becoming a football manager, and working out his career path to taking over at Ashton Gate (we're led to believe we are his club, supported man and boy, when he's never done anything than make a living from us for a few years), he gave up his playing career to traipse around Europe to learn from the worlds greatest clubs and managers. I also wonder what he learnt from working on the NHS front line and with the military to decide to throw Pembo under the bus.
  7. Pemberton gone?

If it is to be announced after the game, this is a bizarre decision by the club. Imagine (not very hard) we lose tonight, is it really going to help matters to announce that one of the assistant head coaches has been relived of his duties? It'll be little Lee's blood we'd want! This is a worse decision than keeping them all - I can't see how Pembo can be singled out, unless it's not for non performance reasons (i.e not on the LJ bus). If Lee only want's yes men to assist him, he won't last long anywhere.
  8. Jamie McAllister...

Remind me. How have we done since the 10th November?
  9. Team for Tomorrow

Probably not the game to experiment? It could work as Hegeler has the physic and attributes to play in defence, and his passing is miles better than Flint, who's limited to 40 yard lumps forward. I'm thinking a modern day Franz Beckenbaur? A dual threat Centre Back!
  10. Bit of fun - Sum our season up...

"Please release Lee, let him go" - Engelbert Humperdink
  11. Team for Tomorrow

Getting the fans onside early tomorrow will be the most important factor, and that will start with the team announcement at 2pm Any combination of our squad and the chosen formation should be enough to win the game. LJ cannot be anything other than positive tomorrow, which is why I'll be absolutely amazed if it is anything other than 2 recognised strikers up front. Tomlin is too much of a risk to start. He could totally win the game for us, but if Burton do a job on him and starve him of possession (as Rotherham did), he's screwed and will will struggle as we'll continue to try and play through him. I think he'll go 3-5-2. We need to control the midfield so we sacrifice one of the back four to put another man up top. Giefer Wright Flint Magnusson Cotterill Smith O'Neil Bryan Reid Taylor Tammy/Duric/Wilbs
  12. West brom

Chris Forrester, the posh midfielder, was about to sign for us until SOD got the sack.
  13. Why LJ?

What if we did approach Justin Edinburgh and he simply didn't want to join us? He's a lot more to risk moving to us than LJ or an out of work manager. We are not the big draw we think we are. We have extremely fickle support, bordering on aggressive, to anyone who isn't perceived to the be the best around. The last two high profile signings for both manager and player were Steve Coppell and David James. They didn't exactly take us forward or help us attack a high calibre player. Players want stability and to enjoy their football. Clearly they want the going rate for doing it, but if we can give them the stability (Board, manager & fans on the same bus) then this will give us the best chance.

If he's reading this forum it's far from a given and who's blame him!

Put me in a Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton in Citreon 2CV. If I win a race am I a better driver than him? LJ could only work with what he had and what support he was given. BCFC can offer him more support (better coaches, more structure etc) and better players = he might work out? Give the guy a chance if he's appointed.
