  1. I agree with your sentiment but they are not the only ones. Everybody loves Barcelona but their financial affairs are far from pure same for Chelsea, Newcastle and PSG to name a few. Money has ruined the football dream that a club like us could win the premier league and compete in the UCL without state or foreign investment.
  2. Fair play to Man City (can't say City as there's only one) it pains me to say they are the best team in Europe probably the world at the moment. Anyone who says different is jealous. Not he best game or performance but they tore Real Madrid apart in the semi and ground it out tonight.
  3. Its always a minority but those idiots ruin it for everybody else.
  4. Cups being thrown all game. It only takes one idiot.
  5. and thats why drinking alcohol is not allowed in the stands in the UK
  6. Same for me. Love to get automatic promotion but if we are in with a shout of a playoff place come April next year I would take that. Top 10 is absolute minimum.
  7. The title was lost with draws against Liverpool & West Ham when 2-0 up and drawing at home to Southampton. Had they held on to the 2 leads the loss at the Etihad would not have been so catastrophic. It seems like North London is the capital of bottlers Spurs now Arsenal
  8. Agree it could have been worse but it could also have been better. Since January we have played OK and at times well but around Xmas we were as bad as I’ve seen in a long time.
  9. But factually correct I believe. How stupid facts can be.
  10. I’m not comparing the squad to what LJ assembled and I know finances are very different. I’m just not over the moon with a season where we were awful at times and finished in the lower half the league again
  11. I’m a glass half empty man tonight. We finished the season OK but let’s not forget how bad we were around Xmas. 10 points off the playoffs is 1 worse than when LJ got sacked. So I’m not sure the only statistic that counts says we have improved. having said that the youngsters breaking through is very exciting and since mid Jan we have played some good football. Next season is a no excuses season for NP. We need a good start and by that I mean wins not just nice football. It’s going to be tough again but we should be challenging for a playoff spot not happy to finish in the bottom half again. COYR
  12. One highlight for me was League 1 when we played them at Ashton Gate and Bas Savage was through on goal and literally fell over with no one around. What a legend he was.
  13. You must be a bit older than me as I was 14 when I first saw The Jam and loved them ever since best band in the world.
  14. For me it should be straight forward. Season ticket holders for their seat only - not able to swap seats or buy extra Members Anyone else who bought tickets for Swansea and West Brom FA Cup Others It means I probably won't get a ticket but if you attend the "crappier" rounds you should get first dibs on the plum tie.
  15. I like many of my generation have spent many Saturdays on those terraces. I lived not far from the ground and me and my mates would watch the first half from the old railway embankment where you could see about 1/3 of the pitch and then get in for free at half time when the opened the big gates. I've also been in there when its been rammed, the old Gloucester cup games were always good and remember some big cup games. looking back its funny remembering the away fans invading the pitch to get to the Tote End but because of the dog track oval it was ages before they even got to the pitch, or in those days watching the lads try and go around the outside along the river to get at the Tote. The the M32 first opened cars would stop on the hard shoulder to watch for free. When I was born parents lived in Coronation Road so was brought up a City fan but we moved to Eastville when I was at primary school some many memories of the place. My mum actually worked in the Tote when the dog racing was on. Happy days they were 1 Saturday Ashton Gate the next Eastville on the cheap.
  16. FFP will be a problem for any owner of BCFC - we just don't get the crowds/revenue to compete financially. I don't agree that SL or Mark Ashton are responsible for poor signings - yes they may have overpaid but I'm sure they only bought the players the manager (and fans) wanted. Take Kalas I remember fans call the board to "sign him up" Palmer was the same they both have been a waste of money but we all wanted to sign them and SL did. Pearson has signed players but mostly they have disappointed or don't play - you can't blame SL for that. There are too many who forget that for years we were a crap Div 3 / Div 4 team and that the gas were actually above us in the league. I'm not a happy clapper and the last few seasons have been awful but I don't know what SL could have done differently. All the names seriously linked with us when NP was appointed have failed and I would suggest 90% of fans thought NP was a good appointment. Now a minority are moaning that SL decisions are crap and he should go.
  17. I think Steve Lansdown has been a fantastic owner. Yes he's made some appointments that haven't worked out but which owner hasn't. He's always backed the manager, yes we are now in trouble for that with FFP but he has put his money where his mouth is. Being an older supporter who remembers the old Div 1 days he almost got us to the promised land. People say the Johnsons were a mistake - really Gary took us to within 90 mins of the Prem and Lee's record is pretty good too. Other than Alan Dicks who has actually finished higher in the last 50 years. I want SL to stay as owner, he is stable and won't run away when the going gets tough. We could end up like Derby or the gas who thought they were going to be the next Chelsea. I just say be careful what you wish for.
  18. The alternative view is get a new man in now and at least let him have some input into new players. Wait until March and any new manager is stuck with the squad Pearson has put together. Like most fans I thought NP was a good choice but his record is awful, we can't keep making excuses. Your own fans singing "sacked in the morning" says it all. Nothings guaranteed but sitting on your hands hoping this transfer window will save us IMO is the owners accepting the potential of life in League 1.
  19. Yeah part way through the first half Naismith having a go at the Lansdown after numerous sideways / backwards passes attracted criticism.
  20. I don't think I've ever voted ton sack the manager before but the boo's, the "we want Pearson out", players arguing with the crowd all mean its time to go.
  21. Just for the record we have the worst front line in any division. None of them could step up to the Prem or even a promotion chasing championship side. They have been lucky so far this season but if any of them get into double figures I would be surprised. Conway - no experience Martin - too old Seymenyo - injury prone Wells - been crap ever since he signed Wiemann - headless chicken My opinion may change on Feb 1st
  22. There was a lot of publicity about this at the end of last season when some Prem matches were effected by flares being thrown onto the pitch. It was at the same time that pitch invasion started getting more common and the authorities decided on a clamp down. Anyway, from my limited knowledge I thought it was illegal to set off pyrotechnics in places like a football ground anyway. I also wonder if someone can take a smoke bomb/flare into a football stadium then how easy would it be for a terrorist to get a bomb in - but thats a different subject around security.
  23. I have a nightmare where we go down and they go up. I haven't seen anything over the last 12 months that suggests we are going to be lucky to stay in the championship and who knows what Rovers can do.
