  7. Birmingham City memories.

Travelling in my youth in the 70s with cats to brum,West Brom and Coventry was always bleak and a nice little eye opener to how lucky we were here in Bristol ,Was also struck by the hugeness of the terracing on one side of the pitch .
  8. Birmingham City memories.

My first ever away trip was to St. Andrews approx 76-78 travelled up with cats on a grey bleak day with mainly o a p s armed with flasks , rattles and transistor radios etc apart from that about 50 young lads and maybe 100 of us altogether on arrival in the mainly open away end we noticed this small group of brum fans (10 or 15 )some dressed in butchers coats (post milwall documentary) glaring at us ,so after are first song they duly attacked us -remember thinking at the time they were like lions attacking a herd of wilder beasts and picking off the weakest on the fringes of our huddle ,this continued most of the first half all to the amusement of West Midlands finest who done nothing . Really can't remember any of the match but what I do remember was my relief as about 200 city turned up and after a few helpful pointers from us they all ran down the terrace and said hello to are attackers ,I remember some of them trying to climb the railings on to the pitch and I think one even got thrown over them on to it .athough I can't put my finger on exact date the thing that probably does date it was all the city lads had long fringes, pegs moccasins and canvas belts we used to call em kitters or kit lads .... Anyhow I was young and it was terrifying and brilliant in equal measures and the longest half of.a Match I didn't watch .

hi, sorry a bit off subject and im sure its been asked before...but why are we playing away in that disastrous gold shirt - im still not over the stoke game at wembley ;-]
