About Fatalist

  1. City in Tenerife

So who are the 20 other people who made the trip, as 47 went apparently. Do we really need that many backroom staff?
  2. New Keeper needed?

I wondered why Fielding was one of 3 players to play the full 90 minutes, despite having Lukic AND O'Leary in the squad?
  3. have Bath City got rain covers,as rain is forecast all day tuesday

Yes. £8. But is it worth coming g back from Singapore for?
  4. Squad Nationalities

Being bored, I put together a team of players who have appeared for us, each from a different country. 1 Adriano Basso. -. Brazil 2 Vegard Hansen. -. Denmark 5 Tamas Vasco. -. Hungary 4 Jens Hegeler. -. Germany 3 Hordur Magnusson 6 Luke Wilshire. - Australia 7 Pertii Jantunnen. -. Finland 11 Geert Meier. -. Netherlands 8 Alvaro Saborio. -. Costa Rica 9 Milan Duric. -. Bosnia 10 Jonathan Kodjia. -. France Subs. Ivan Lukic. -. Austria Damien Stewart - Jamaica Gustav Engvall. -. Sweden Shaun Goater. -. Bermuda Greg Goodridge. -. Barbados Albert Adomah. -. Ghana Who have I missed, from a country not on my list?
  5. 100 grand a week!!!

BBC says Terry is talking to Swansea.
  6. Eros Pisano - "Spotted" - Now Signed!

I see he missed 4 games with "Jumpers Knee". Don't they have proper goal posts i Italy?
  7. Latest rule change proposals

What about some of the other suggestions from the BBC link above? I can't argue with most of these points about timewasting (although we might not get home very early): Most of these apply to trying to combat time-wasting. The document says match officials should be stricter on the rule which allows keepers to hold the ball for six seconds and be more stringent when calculating additional time. Additionally, it suggests match officials stop their watch: from a penalty being awarded to the spot-kick being taken from a goal being scored until the match resumes from the kick-off from asking an injured player if he requires treatment to play restarting from the referee showing a yellow or red card to play resuming from the signal of a substitution to play restarting from a referee starting to pace a free-kick to when it is taken BUT I can't see any sense in these: referees can only blow for half-time or full-time when the ball goes out of play. I always thought this one of the daftest things about rugby. If time is up, why play several minutes more (as sometimes happens)? a penalty kick is either scored or missed/saved and players cannot follow up to score to stop encroachment into the penalty area. WHY?
  8. Australia v Germany

I wasn't exactly writing him off. I just thought he was supposed to be one of Australia's best, who might have stepped up against top opposition, but didn't. We will see if he can step up to Prem level week in, week out. In any case ,it wasn't exactly the "World Champions", more a reserve team, who had a number of dodgy moments. Certainly not super human.
  9. Australia v Germany

Was I the only one to be underwelmed by the much hyped Aaron Mooy? He spent most of the game passing sideways or backwards, got caught in possession and created nothing.
  10. Chinese football.

BBC are reporting transfer fees to Chinese clubs will carry a 100% tax, so clubs would have to pay the government the same amount they paid the selling club. Will that curb silly transfer fees? What about silly wages, though? Either way, I can't see China winning the World Cup for a bit.
  11. Historical Season Ticket Prices?

I've still got some old Dolman STs. My dad had a ST in the old, pre-Dolman stand, which cost £5 5s 0d (£5.25) in 1957-58. The Dolman cost us £8 in 1971-72 as a special opening offer. Not much more than it was for a much worse stand 14 years earlier. The next year it shot up to £10.50, an increase of 30%. 1973-4 was another near 30% hike to £13.50, but 1974-75 only went up 11% to £15. By 1975-76 it was getting serious, up 40% to £21 and on getting to the top division in 1976-77 ,up 90% to £40. That might get you one game today. So if we made it to the Prem, could we be looking at a similar 90% hike? Also interesting to see the plan for when the Dolman was new, was to stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap. It seemed to work then?
  12. Engvall

3-1 up after 70 minutes. Engvall hasn't scored or assisted any of them, according to live scores.
  13. 40 years ago

That will teach you to leave before the end. We scored another 2 at Mansfield!
  14. Premier League Teams - Should we be embarassed?

Isn't it the case that no sports team from Bristol does as well as we would like. Rovers should never have dropped right out of the League - whatever is said on here, they are better than NLBR. Better now, but still Division 3. Rugby spend years getting into the top division, then fall back out with scarcely a whimper City Women get back to the top division (That's good) but don't look like staying long. They have beaten only Yeovil and lost all the rest, to average teams. Gloucestershire Cricket have never done anything in the Championship and apart from a few One Day triumphs, find it hard to shake off Graham Gooch's description of "Minor Counties West". Somerset have done better (without actually winning anything much) - but I don't count them as Bristol. Anything else? Speedway? Ice Hockey? There is something in the air round here that just doesn't breed real success.
  15. 2017 Play Offs

Capacity only 24k. When we first went there, thought it was the bees knees. Now it's smaller than AG.
