kmpowell Posted March 12, 2014 Report Share Posted March 12, 2014 Not to be confused with the Purple(Shirt) & Lime(trim) 2nd shirt we wore at Anfield... does any have, or know of, a Lime(Shirt) & Purple(Trim) 3rd strip shirt available to buy? If I recall correctly it was worn once in the 93/94 season (DBC sponsor) at a night match. I even recall a picture appearing on the BBC sport website in recent years. It was the complete reverse of the P&L shirt. I've searched high and low over the years, but I'm not sure they were ever available to buy, and part of me is starting to question if it ever existed! IIRC there used to be one displayed in the old legends bar in the Dolman We also had a strange green kit v Brentford in the John award era when the away kit was white? I've finally found the picture I was thinking of, Shail wearing it as captain! As you can see it had the DBC sponsor which makes it the 93/94 season. In Feb 94 we played Palarse on a tuesday night, so it could have been that game? Anyway, this is the shirt I'm trying to track down, so if anybody knows of one for sale, please do let me know! That year we ditch the P&L 2nd shirt for a 2nd shirt that had black and green hoops with red trim: The all black shirt you speak of was our 3rd strip. The highlights of that match were shown on ITV that night, I'm fairly sure it was on 'Midweek Sport Special' although the programme itself (made by Central TV iirc) usually concentrated on Midland clubs. Maybe they thought the horror of that kit deserved to be shown on national TV? Edit....it might have been on Sportsnight, can't remember if they showed football highlights? It was the Sanderson year I think - it had green over shoulders and then faded into white. I'm sure there used to be a picture of John Ward in his office and it hung behind him.
