Mr Mosquito
Maybe some would argue that SOD laid the foundations for Steve Cotterill's success but - at the end of the day - it's Steve Cotterill that's got us the points for survival and from a pretty shit league position. May as well give Steve Coppell the credit while we're at it.

MichaelRobartes
Credit where it's due. He certainly wasn't my choice but the last few months have been as good as we could have hoped for. Good man SC.

Manon
Yes well done Mr Coterill. I must admit I was never a fan and believed he would take us down. Still unsure whether he is the man long term, but well done all the same. I think the board also deserve some credit on this one, since I appears to be a good call, despite the huge abuse they received for it at the time from a large proportion of our fans. ...
Why is anyone still giving SOD any credit? Regardless of who was at fault, his tenure was an unmitigating disaster from start to finish. "End of" to quote the master himself. Rovers might need a new director of football next season in the Skrill ............
Superjack
Am I allowed to say that I thought Cotterill was exactly what we needed when he was appointed? ... ...no?... ....Ok... in that case I'll just say that O'Dismal was the worst City manager of my time. SOD laid down great foundations, if your looking to build a primark factory in a third world country. 7 wins in 40 odd games was abysmal, how anyone can give the man ANY credit still is beyond me. Wanderingred
I dont think SOD is a bad manager, he was just the wrong man at the wrong time. He obviously came here with a vision of what he want to do (that had worked well at Bournemouth and Doncaster) but there was too much upheaval needed and we didnt have the type of players to make it work. Cotterill is more of a back to basics, no nonsense type of guy. Which is really what we needed after two dismal years in the championship. If he'd been here since August we could be pushing for the top six right now. Shame really.
Mr Mosquito
Wouldn't say he laid any foundations other than digging the hole in the first place You've got to dig a hole to lay good solid foundations. The deeper the hole the better - preferably, dig until you reach bedrock.

Mr Mosquito
Haven't we done this thread, like, a week ago? It's called flogging the dead horse or rather the carcass of SOD's managerial reign. SOD was on a loser when he came here and so would have been any manager given some of the shit players he inherited. Despite what many think, I believe he laid the foundations for eventual success. Anyway, well done Steve Cotterill for saving the club from the Gas infested bottom tier of English football.

harvey54
SoD lost the plot. You only have to look at what Cotterill has achieved recently to see what any decent manager should have done with what is a very talented squad with many Championship quality players. I have no idea why he failed so badly but looking at the images of him near the end of his time he looked shell-shocked and maybe something else was going on in his life which affected him. Richard O'Kelly turning his back and walking away was another tell-tale sign that something was rotten in the state of BS3. Cotterill has got the basics right, got the confidence back and brought in some good experience. I feel confident that with a couple more additions in the summer we can mount a serious promotion challenge next season.
