B-Rizzle
I don't know if I've made this up but have there been recent improvements to the training ground? I've heard talk that there has but haven't found anything official. I know that last year they completed building a new facility so that all our training is based up at failand. I'm also aware that the old AG pitch was moved and relayed up there. Is there anything else that I've missed or other improvements that are planned? Also, where exactly is the training ground? I know it shares the entrance with the QEH sports ground but are all the facilities shared as well? I've had a look on google maps but can't seem to distinguish exactly where our pitches are in relation to QEH's? Thanks!
Desso
Our pitches are behind the QEH clubhouse adjacent to Long Ashton Golf Course. On my version of Google earth (imagery date 2007) the area in question is shown as 2 light coloured rectangular fields. This was taken prior to the excellent training ground development and I understand that additional adjoining land has also been secured and developed. Thanks for this, I wondered if it was those fields. Does that mean there is a driveway running from the QEH entrance alongside their fields in order to reach the new BCFC training ground? Lansdown spent about 2 or 3 million on the training ground I think

The bird's eye view on Bing maps (51.436000, -2.681849) shows the training ground under construction. The aerial view shows it finished & in use. Admin Ian M Posted July 31, 2014 Admin Report Share Posted July 31, 2014 So it does - thanks. I hadn't seen it before, I used the posts on this thread to locate the training ground then just tried a different map site. There may even be better ones as Bing was the first I tried. Gmac
On bing maps, Click on birds eye view then rotate right 90 degrees and zoom in on the existing building. Should see the latest improvements under construction in the field next door. Believe it is a changing rooms and a gym. Hope this helps.

Presumably they have to walk over to the new pitches? Do you know what's happening to the field that the new buildings are on, it's parallel with the main road and from what I've seen recently is overgrown and disused? Gmac
http://binged.it/1n6UtzL Here is a zoomed out view, It doesnt show the new gym and changing rooms to the right of the existing building, but it does show the scale of the site. The field to the right where the new buildings are located now also have pitches on them. Its safe to say its quite impressive.

The last time i was there was at the end of the changing room build, all i know is SL bought more land there.

CITYAREREDANDWHITE
I don't understand how they can move a pitch?
B-Rizzle
I don't understand how they can move a pitch? Cut a couple of inches below surface of pitch to release turf from the ground (probably specialist machinery to help). This gives you strips of turf that can be rolled up, moved, and then unrolled at the other end. Presume that's how they do it!
