Can anyone think up a new phrase for when we've played well ? Yep. They've been using that line for at least forty years. As a boy, I didn't understand the reference and actually thought we'd slipped up on some oil or something.

exiledinwatford
50 years certainly. I remember the headline "City go nap" when we beat Shrewsbury away in 1965 a few games before beating Oldham 2-0 and pipping Mansfield for promotion on goal average. Plenty of games when "City defence have a nap".

CiderJar
It's nice not to be "Struggling Bristol City" for a while, I'll take "Slickers". "High-flying" wouldn't go amiss either.
exiledinwatford
Atyeo 4 goals? At GAY Meadow, Easter time? It was indeed. I was only 10 at the time and was in Bristol visiting family. We stayed down for the return - I think we won 3-0 a few days later. I remember I was disappointed. In my youthful innocence I thought 5-1 away, must be at least 8 at home!
