Official shirts can unfortunately only bought in the fanshop in the stadium (as far as I know). There is an official webshop : http://www.voetbalshop.nl/fanshop/willem-ii.html

But on this webshop they don't sell shirts of Willem II. Shirts of this season will come available in 2 weeks (not in the webshop), since we only got our shirt sponsor arranged last week.

The first game is played..... A home match against PSV. About 12.000 spectators and a nice vibe in the stadium. How would we play in the Eredivisie after our promotion? It looked quite clear after 10 minutes..... 0-2 behind due to two personal mistakes. First our goalie came out of the goal and instead of kicking the ball out of the stadium, he tried to continue with football. You are a keeper not a player!!! Result 0-1. Few minutes later one of our midfielders made the pass of his life..... towards the opponent Memphis Depay, who scored the 0-2. After that Willem II was the better team on the pitch resulting in a goal resulting in a 1-2 half time. During halftime and the second half rain poured down and we really had the game going with some nice chances on the 2-2. Unfortunately our keeper made a mistake once again by tackling the opponent and thus a penalty. Should have been a yellow card too, but he got a red card (this could be a blessing since he now misses the next game, and seeing him play right now, this could mean a better keeper next match).

The penalty was scored and the endresult was 1-3. Not a real surprising outcome of the match, but we had some nice changes to win at least one point. The way in which we played was quite good and gives me hope for the rest of the year....

Next sunday an away match against FC Utrecht. away box filled with 300-400 people...

Glad there were some seeds of hope, and you certainly scored the best goal of the game, the player turning very well in the box and popping it in. The defending for the first two goals really did remind me of seasons past watching City! Agreed the red was harsh as there were very clearly players back, but maybe a blessing in disguise.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Second match of the season. This time against FC Utrecht away, normally they end 8-12 in the Eredivisie. Nice rainy weather and we went with just over 400 supporters to Utrecht. We got compliments for that because normally most of the other Eredivisie teams take much less supporters with them. Although there was a roof over the stands, we felt the rain the whole time, but that enlarges the atmosphere of following a football match.

First half we were the better team on the pitch, but with no result, thus a 0-0 at half time. FC Utrecht has a (old) reputation for having a nice football atmosphere, but the only ones singing were 400 people in the away box. In the second half FC Utrecht was slightly better and this resulted in 1-0 for them. Willem II has some quick forwards, and they got really dangerous at some times. Especially Terell Ondaan (remember that name) was playing very nice. We hope we can keep him after the deadline of transfers of September 1 or receive a very nice amount of transfer fee. A quick at goal from Terell Ondaan was defended by the keeper, but the ball bounced back and we scored the 1-1 in the 80th minute. FC Utrecht went forward to go for the victory. Unfortunately they were succesfull and scored the 2-1 due to a miscommunication between one of our defenders and our keeper.

Concluding, a loss with 2-1 in a match where we deserved one point. Positive point: we had a great time and atmoshpere in the awaybox and the game played still predicts possibilities for Willem II to stay in the Eredivisie.

Next Saturday we have a home game against AZ Alkmaar. Once again a though match against a strong opponent, but as few of you saw during their stay in Tilburg, last time we played against them we won with 3-1....

For the people who are wondering how the "connection" between BCFC and Willem II began: see the next text which was written in 2010. Please note that this is a google translation of a Dutch text so forgive the strange use of words. The text is written by a Willem II supporter who is a groundhopper and is on his journey to visit all the 116 professional football clubs in the UK. His site can be found here: www.doingthe116.com

How it all began:

There are a number of Dutch clubs who have a link with a club in the UK. Groningen & Hibs, Ajax and Tottenham and NAC & MK Dons are well-known examples. My own club Willem II has a friendship with a British club. Fans of us and come and watch Bristol City on a regular basis. This year we are in solidarity with each other because we are both at the bottom of the league. But how did the band actually started because William and Bristol City have never played against each other and the cities are not really together.

The flags of Bristol City at the King Willem II Stadium will anyone ever noticed. Is not in the stadium, then it is on television. The banners hang namely Block E. Those who sit there have probably noticed that sometimes fans of Bristol City came over for a game of football Willem II. So did the men from Bristol came and see the match against FC Groningen. On the other hand, there are already regularly fans from Willem II traveled to Bristol to support. Bristol City Funny really, because the clubs at first glance little in common. How is it that there is such a bond of friendship developed between the two clubs?
First a small introduction about Bristol City. The club plays in the sixth city of England in the Ashton Gate stadium, with an capability of 21.5000. The nickname of the club is The Robins. It is a real sleeping giant, who played for the last time at the highest level in 1980. Then the club relegated three times in a row. For several years the club was back on the second-highest level, and in 2008 was the club 90 minutes away from promotion to the Premier League. The plan is to make it beautiful but outdated stadium is going to be abandoned and is very ultramodern in its place where 42,000 people can.

Before the beginning of the friendship we must go back to 2001, Willem II was at that time a subtop club and players like Joris Mathijsen, Kew Jaliens and Denny Landzaat we saw playing weekly in the red-white-blue. Good times so. On the Internet there was meanwhile a friendship between Willem II supporter Elko and Vicky from Bristol. That friendship was so close that our Tilburger was invited to come celebrate New Year in the port city in 2002. The Elko well liked among the Bristolians and a few days later he was invited by the stepfather of Vicky to go to Bristol City v Wigan Athletic. He is taken to various pubs before the game and in one of those pubs, a Willem II scarf was hanged. Not only is Elko in love with The Robins, but the English also seem very interested in William II.

Until the 2006/2007 pulls Elko there regularly to visit at home and away. Bristol City He is next Willem'er also a real fan of Bristol City has become. About five visits per year are no exception. Time to take to his club and his second cousin is someone with the lucky. Who like it so much that he invited the men from Bristol City for his birthday at the Willem II Stadium, while Willem II - FC Groningen. Willem II gets its annual three points against the northerners and wins 3-0. The traveling show Bristolians Hadouir scored twice but missed the 1-0 Cristiano due to hang at the bar too long. However, they do stand out well and especially Spike - a Rod Stewart lookalike - steals the show. It is clear that there are many fans Englishmen in Tilburg and which Englishmen have a great time.

Many flags for the pub "The Three Lions" with Willem II flag between
Later that season, at Bristol. Travels a large group Tilburg off This is to make. Possible promotion game Bristol City v Millwall in London with It is a day of exploring, both on and off the field. The hard cores of Bristol City and Millwall who are not exactly known as choirboys. Add the fact that there are also some guests Feyenoord Millwall came to support that day and the fact that there is something at stake that day, and you have the ingredients for a hot afternoon. What chairs exchanged that day of course, but eventually the game ends still in a hangover for The Robins. By a 1-0 loss comes down to the last day of the club finally awarded his PhD after nine seasons and remains on the third level. Elko therefore extends his trip and sees Bristol City 3-1 to win the last game. Finally the club back to the level where they actually belong to play.

A good season follows and Bristol City retrieves the playoffs. The semi-final is won, after an all-deciding game will follow in the Valhalla of football: Wembley. Hull City's opponent on May 24, a club with little history that never came out at the highest level. A large group Willem II'ers is present to the Premier League to shout. The Robins 86000 people are there in Wembley for a match on the second level. England and is football-that is proved again here. Everyone wants to get in without a ticket and several Tilburg lay as 80 pounds down on the black market anyway to inside. It's a madhouse and Willem II'ers enjoy the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the result is less and wins Hull City 1-0.

Probably Bristol City in the coming time not come so close to promotion as that day. The last two seasons, it was all very mediocre, which is why this year significantly invested in players and coaches. However, Steve Coppell suddenly realized that he had lost interest in after a few weeks. Bristol City is now final and be careful that they do not degrade. However, the relationship between the Tricolores and The Robins is getting stronger in recent years. Hence the flag with Bristol City it also depends on each game for Block E. It is hoped that soon we will even play a friendly match against Bristol City. That is something that the fans of both clubs look forward to.

Match report of our home game against AZ Alkmaar last Saturday:

AZ Alkmaar is a strong opponent. Ended 8th place last year in the Eredivisie and won the Eredivisie 6 years ago. With about 9,500 supporters, the stadium was far away from sold out, be the atmosphere was quite good. Away box filled with 250 people who were quiet (and with reason). Marco van Basten is now coach for AZ by the way.

AZ and Willem II have quite a history. After our 90's period with even Champions League for Willem II, lots of our top players went without  transfer fees to AZ together with our coach Co Adriaansen. This was the beginning of a very difficult period for Willem II. Now we have quite some players who had to leave AZ in the past (apparently not good enough for AZ). So for them this match was important too.

We began very good with a good chance within the first three minutes. Willem II put good pressure on AZ and that made it very difficult for AZ to play their own game. At one time a defender played the ball to their goalkeeper to slow. The ball was picked up at the line by a player of Willem II and with a beautiful move he went passed the goalkeeper and managed to keep the ball in play (I will try to put it on here later on) and was not selfish and played the ball towards another player who scored the 1-0!!!!  Then our nr. 9 had to go of the field due to an injury and I was not happy with his sub. This sub is now playing half a year for Willem II but has not made any impact on the pitch yet. This could imply troubles for Willem II.

Nevertheless Willem II ruled on the pitch. Lots of chances, but no goals. That is something that has to change in order to win matches. But finally our nr. 10 managed to control the ball between 3 players of AZ hit the post, but was in the good position to score the goal afterwards (in fact: he was already celebrating the goal and was running towards the fans, when the ball came back into his feet). 2-0 halftime, which should have been at least 4-0....

In the second half Willem II was defending a bit more, but AZ did not manage to create any chances. We have very fast forwards and in the last five minutes it was the sub who countered towards the goalie. It looked like he played the ball too far (and I was once again already getting mad on him), but he managed to hit the ball very nice, scoring the 3-0 which was the endresult.

Willem II played very convincing, gave no chances away and thus a well deserved win!!!! Gives hope for our next away match on Friday against Go Ahead Eagles.....

Here is a movie from the kingside which gives you an impression of the atmosphere at the end of the match and the third goal. At 2.00 we are singing: stand up for Willem II and (almost) the whole stadium went up their feet!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENsBiPPC8zc

We are looking forward for the "rats" (as they call theirselves), less than a month to go!!! We had made a nice banner for them, which was showed two years ago when we played the first match of the season against them after also coming back to the Eredivisie: the tekst says in the top: We are back. and in the bottom: our arrows are sharpened.

Here a movie how the banner was made. You can see it raised up at 5.50

After their 3-0 demolition of AZ, our Dutch boys have an away trip tonight at GAE.

Notably, GAE last home game was 0-0, and you'll do well to see two successive 0-0s in a row in Holland. So there should be goals. It is rare for GAE to go 2 home games running without scoring.

Also (unfortunately) looking at Willem's away record at this level (top league), they are without an away win in 34 ! And that is just going back as far as Soccerway would allow (August 2010). It is 6 away defeats in a row. They have done 7 before so there is precedent.

Expecting BTTS here, could really go either way. Interested to hear from our Dutch man thinks.

Dezgimed is right: Willem II doesn't do well in away games in the Eredivisie. They have not won an away match 46 times in a row (8 draws rest lost). And after the away match against GA Eagles of last Friday it is 47 times and still 8 draws..... Endresult was 1-0. With a red card on both sides. There were lots of chances for Willem II but with two times hitting the bar and one time hitting the post, we were not Lucky... Although a win was not deserved, a draw would have been better....

And we remain supporting our team as you can see in this vid made after the match of last Friday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NDP_1pCHxw

That is the way to do it... Nothing more to mention on this match from my side (I had to go to a wedding, so I was not at the match).

Next weekend no match and on September 13, an away match against Feyenoord. Hopefully not number 48 in a row, but good chance to achieve that new record too, to be honest.... We are happy with a draw over there.... And then September 19, THE match at home against our local enemy NAC......

BTW congrats with the results of BCFC!!!! Very nice to see that it is going much better then last year. Keep it up and perhaps BCFC could go up.....
