Looks like we zonal marking, which is why someone didn't pick up the players run and he had the freedom of Bristol to score.. and am I being a bit harsh or could Fielding done a bit better with their second??

you're being Harsh, made you Frankie "Messi" Fielding saved us in the second half with his header and turn after Aden "The goal machine" Flint got beaten for pace

Fielding should do better there

disagree, the power it was hit with and by the time he would have seen it it is very harsh to say he should have done better, not been Fieldings biggest supporter and it still makes me nervous when we pass the ball back to him but he has done well this season so far and hopefully will continue to

Maybe harsh to suggest Fielding should save it, but look at his body positioning when the Bradford player is about to hit it, he doesn't look ready or anything, he isn't on his toes it's like he's not expecting a shot or he's expecting it's going to be blocked.

Exactly this. We will probably get away with Fielding this season as we score so many goals but if we do go up, goodness me we need a new keeper.

He should be alert and ready when the ball is in or near his box. He didn't come for a cross yesterday and their bloke volleyed it from 6 yards out. Incredibly poor

Shocking defending for their first equaliser. Can't make out who didn't follow his man who had the free header.

Their first looks like its straight off the training ground to me. The gap between Elliott (I think, can't quite see) and the next zonal defender is far too big, the runner knew exactly where he was going and it was well executed in the end.

He missed a cross which the entire defence also missed. He soon after diverted a cross away from Clarke and smacked another clear outside the box. On his one foray outside the box he played the sweeper-keeper role perfectly and won possession.

I agree he needs replacing when we go up but you can't expect a good League 1-standard keeper to get everything right.

both goals were down to poor marking, allowing attackers that much room in the box will always concede goals

both times they were in acres of space  - disappointing

Their second in particular. It was a bit like slow motion, I kept thinking 'close him down, close him down' and then he scored! Why didn't someone go to him?

Not on the above, but could Frankie have got a bit nearer one or both of them? Needed to be dealt with in front of him, first, admittedly...

Funny, individually it didn't appear any of our defenders did owt wrong last night, but teams are sniffing we'll concede and are going for us...

Come on you Reds, tighten it up! Barnsley have scored 20 in 13, so are statistically likely to score Sat...

So for their first goal, one of our players is marking the guy who makes the first header. He pulls away from our lad...our lad joins the line on the six yard box instead of following him.

Now are we playing zonally across the six yard box or marking players...?

No wonder we concede at set pieces.

agree - usually players are allocated an opponent to mark, in each case their players pulled away and no-one went with them, which in the box, is madness surely as they stand much more chance of picking up the second ball.

hey, but what do I know!

True. But we were defending 'zonally' at Sheff U in Aug, which is how they scored - the last time we conceded from a set-piece (apparently, acc to boffins in straight-jackets white coats who know more about this than me).

According to SC, we were working on stopping Bradford at set pieces as we knew their danger...well that worked well then!

At least he admitted we screwed up their.
