yardy
I think Ronaldo has been the best player in the last 2 or 3 seasons, much more likeable in a Real Madrid shirt too
Kermit the Frog
Ronaldo just keeps getting better and better. That moves messi down to third place for me. Colin Daniel however, now we are talking!

Gazred
Ronaldo is a much more rounded attacker for me. Just gives him the edge.
CiderHider
Ronaldo. Would like to see Messi in the Prem though, in the Arsenal side or ManU. never happen though, life is nice and easy in La Liga, no pressure, all the time and space in the world on the ball, 'closing down' in Spanish is siesta time! BRISTOL86
Very difficult question. Ronaldo like someone else said is the more rounded attacker but I prefer to watch Messi. Was watching s programme on sky sports the other day of old El Clasico games and he is truly captivating/graceful to watch in a way that Ronaldo isn't. Also the arrogance of ronaldo on the pitch makes me prefer Messi.
Welcome To The Jungle
It's like comparing a Lexus to a Ferrari. Both are clearly excellent cars. One is the latest technology and is just refined to the highest level to make it excellent. The other is less refined but somehow has more grace and style. Ronaldo is like the Lexus. Hours of training and refinement has gone into making him the best player in the world. Messi however just glides across the football pitch with the style and passion of a Ferrari. On paper Ronaldo is better, but I'd rather watch Messi, because he makes it look so easy, whereas with Ronaldo you can see how much he has had to try to get to where he is. Major Isewater
O'Ronald for me . He excels in any position he plays in and i'm sure even in goal if he had to. Plus he's not just done it at one club but three top clubs . Not too keen on his persona but credit where it's due. Would n't say "no" to Messi on the bench for City though ! Does that not give you more respect for him than Messi though? Within the parameters of their respective teams, Messi is probably better; the team- in fact the whole philosophy- is built around him. But if I was picking teams for a kick about in the park on a Sunday? Ronaldo every time
RedM
I've never taken to Ronaldo, probably the ManU connection did it for me. Yes he is brilliant but God does he know it, or that's the impression he gives. I'm not a violent person but if I had to name 3 players who I could give a slap to he'd be second on my list! I'm not so sure, his philanthropic gestures are something quite remarkable really. I think he has actually stripped much of the arrogance out of his game and has become a much better player for it. And as said above, he has gone to three clubs and adapted and settled and excelled. Until Messi demonstrates he is capable of that I don't think he can reasonably be favourably compared in respect of Ronaldo.

CotswoldRed
Ronaldo is a diver - I'll never like a cheat for all the skills in the world. He probably is the most feared of the two though. Colin Daniel sits way above the two of them though.
TinnionForEngland
Ronaldo. And for those saying he's arrogant, Messi was seen verbally abusing a few of his team mates (not encouragement, abuse) and refused to be substituted in their game on the weekend. Ronaldo is the best, he doesn"t allow anything less than that.

Who would you take off for Messi? He hasn't got the presence of Wilbrahamovic and doesn't really play the fox-in-the-box role of Agard. Arguably he could do Elliot's role but I don't think you should take off your captain. Therefore, I'd stick Messi in the reserves until he's bulked up a bit for the Wilbs role. Bris Red
Ronaldo probably just for me. He's not a natural talent like Messi though.. To be honest neither of them make me want to rush home and watch them though, not in the same way ronaldinho ever did.

You don't change a winning team ! He should replace Elliot who apparently needs a rest ,poor old boy !
AshtonGreat
Ronaldo probably just about edges it at the moment - Messi has lost a little of his pace since his injuries. But at the peak of his powers, Messi was easily the best. Quite possibly the best ever.
Portland Bill
Messi for me. On his day he is unplayable. Not at his best in the World Cup but still got his team to the final. Ronaldo couldn't get his team out of the group.
sodburyred
Ronaldo. Messi excels in a team built around him, in a league where there's no tackling would love to see how he'd cope at Stoke on a Monday night game in December. Ronaldo has and then gone on to show how easy La Liga is despite the team not being built around him. They both dive but I cant remember Ronaldo publicly refusing to be subbed like Messi. Enoch
Messi has a more natural talent and i don't think we will ever see a better player at dribbling than him. Ronaldo had a better season last season but Messi looks like hes coming back to his best. I prefer Messi and he will be the one to break all the goal records as he is a few years younger.
