Slack Bladder
Liverpool's 1981 European Cup winning team, in a time when it was only the champions of Europe that played in the competition. Ray Clemence Alan Kennedy Alan Hansen Phil Thompson Phil Neal Ray Kennedy Graeme Souness Terry McDermott Sammy Lee Kenny Dalglish David Johnson No need for foreign journeymen to win a big trophy back then, so would it be possible for an English club to win a major trophy by just using British players? I'll like to see a club with balls to try.

That team is miles behind Real, Barcelona, Munich, Chelsea, Man City and PSG.
Kermit the Frog
British players are at a ridiculous price, it's not even worth it.

downendcity
What will never be matched is Celtic's European Cup winning team in the 60's. If I remember correctly all 11 players were born within something like 20 miles of Celtic Park. A staggering achievement.
BS4 on Tour...
And Liverpool's European Cup Winning team of 1977 only had one non-UK player in the team - and the entire bench was English. A fluffy wine gum to the first to name the non-UK guy....

In my eyes Balotelli is a journeyman, no passion for the club just picking up his weekly pay cheque.

Spoken to him hAve you With the number of clubs he's had at his age, at would suggest that he probably is a journeyman....at the higher level anyway

That team is miles behind Real, Barcelona, Munich, Chelsea, Man City and PSG. Impossible to say. If British teams were only fielding British players and they were getting regular European football, the standard of these players coming through would be improved. Right now, every kids dream in the top flight is being put on hold for a no mark European footballer, there are half a dozen exceptional foreign players in the Satellite League, the rest are bang average. I'm not sure if you are saying that Liverpool side are miles behind those teams you mention, or a British side? That Liverpool side, Forest, Villa, Ipswich etc were the best around in that era, filled with British talent. You can't compare different eras against each other. This team is nowhere near as good as the teams I mentioned: Hart Johnson Baines Jagielka Cahill WIlshire Ramsey Henderson Rooney Sturridge Bale
