Shirt Swap Row

Sorry if discussed elsewhere.

TalkSport are still going on and on about this.

Is anyone else completely baffled as to why this is even an issue?

Phrases like 'disrespect to the fans' etc.

I cannot think of a thing I'd care less about on the pitch at HT. Maybe I've missed something.

I guess it's usually done at the end of a match, so are they saying Balotelli is being disrespectful as he was saying that's it for me for this game?

Some players come out in a different shirt for the second half anyway. Wasnt it McIndoe who always used to swop from long sleeved to short (or the other way round) due to superstition? Both players must have known they had spare shirts to use in this case, didn't they?

Still a bit of an odd thing to do though, especially in full view of tv cameras.

I see Balotelli is being investigated by Police today as he threatened a woman who took photos of his car the day after the shirt swop. Liverpool knew what they were getting...

Yeah, don't get it, but suggest it is more to do with folks looking for any possible reason to get on his back, as he's yet to set the world alight, and Liverpool aren't doing very well.

Plus, media have 24 hours of the day to fill; manufactured outrage is a useful way of doing it.

Spot on my friend.  If only 2% of all the outrage people exhibit from behind their screens and iphones (sack that politician for that comment etc) was channelled into social justice and making the world a better place then, well, .... the world would be a better place.

So many people I know will blow up at the smallest mistake but wouldn't have the guts to complain about a plate of food in a restaurant.

Couldn't agree more.

Not saying Balotelli didn't perhaps make an error of judgement, but it is hardly worth the level of nonsense thrown at it by the hacks out there, all desperate to claim the moral high ground, or attract attention to themselves.

And as far as I've read he's more Gazza as in a bit thick / bit of a prankster than one of the nasty bunch like Marlon King, Lee Hughes or Nile Ranger.

I wouldn't mind him playing for City, can't see Steve C being as keen though.

To some fans it may look like he is thinking well 3-0 down cant be bothered with the rest of the match I give up, here's my shirt.........

This is how I interpreted the whole story

Crazy that it has gone on this long, just twisting the knife about how ineffective Balotelli is at the moment

Apart from a World Cup or something similar, never understsood why a player is so keen to swap a shirt anyway

Well it's Brendan Rogers who blew up over it, not "the hacks", they are obviously going to report his comments.

Anyway, it's some minor club disciplinary thing - the latest in a long line in this player's career. Move along now, there's nothing to see.

Never know why anyone listens to TalkSport. It gives me a migraine.

And quite right too!

Apparently it was Dolly, checking where the air-conditioning switch was located - it would seem she lost out to you and Strawberry for our friend 'Flint'.

The thread was about Talk Sport's continued interest in the subject, not the original source, and why the media was so interested, so my response was in line with that.

And, in my personal opinion, any sports writer continuing to talk about this minor manner as if the sky was falling is a hack; my apologies if you take any issue with that.

Like I say, TalkSport gives me a migraine. It's like listening to a load of old women nattering in Sainsbury's cafe.

Ditto; the last time I listened was many years ago and I have no interest in doing so again.

That said I don't get the reference, as I've never been to a Sainsburys cafe.

Had merely been responsing to what seemed like your misunderstanding over what I was posted about.

Lots think this was disrespecting the Liverpool shirt - not so and quite the reverse.

Rogers told him " I'm pulling you off at half time Mario"

Mario thought to himself,  " I'd better not use my Liverpool shirt to clear up afterwards", so decided to swap with Pepe so he could use as a Real shirt instead!!

QED.

My daughters are keen fans of the cake range, meaning I often have to endure the gimmers paradise that is Street Sainsbury's caff!

TalkSport I reckon must employ that Private Eye fictional journo "Phil Space". The station should be based in West Wittering.

I remember listening while waiting in a reception somewhere for some reason, while Talk Sport hosts argued over something like the change in shirt sponsor of a premiership team.

Seemingly ended in a "won't someone please think of the children!" situation; it would have been hilarious if it wasn't so embarrassing.
