Why don't we have a security dog at the turnstile

The dog would smell the explosives

The stewards are a joke, they are more interested in just looking at your ticket. The computer on the turnstile does that?

The only simpathy I have with the stewards (And that is defiantly all) is they can not put their hands on somebody's private parts. And that is where they must put them. (Or the steward is not doing his job, more interested in just getting in to watch the game for free.)

what are you on about? Explosives?

I assume you mean flares. I also assume that the flares are brought in by teenagers as anyone over that age who think it is big/funny/clever/brave to light a flare need to take a good look at themselves

They were smoke bombs. Absolutely harmless to anybody more than 10 feet away.

I've honestly never come across such a whiny arsed set of fans, in 20 years of attending live football matches.

Some of these threads and subsequent replies are unbelievable. No wonder football is such a sterile environment nowadays.

I blame Bristol City fans.

Hilarious, which one were you in the generic 15 year old stone island jumpers? Were you one of the group who panicked and were trying to get to away entrance when you took the wrong turn?

Even funnier was the bloke in his 40s wearing even older stone island hand me downs who started a pne chant on his own and just gkt laughed at.

Rest assured seeing a man that age so close to a heart attack didnt amuse me, so I didn't.

I hope he manages to see out the rest of the season.

I didn't attend. I was pruning the apple tree in our back garden.

Although, the sight of lost 15 year old lads does sound like absolutely hilarious fun. I'm glad you enjoyed that.

And the meffy middle aged bloke trying to get a chant going must have been side splitting, too. Let's not forget him eh....what a plonker he must have looked.

Damn, reading that back, highlights just how much fun I missed out on. I envy you.

Pudding, chips & peas. With plenty of salt.

Pudding, chips & gravy. If I'm feeling horny.

I thought pies and puddings were a Wigan thing? Surely you lot are more John Bull-eaters? God, chip shops were so disappointing when I lived in the northwest...

Anyway; people are a bit pissy because we've got shit for smoke bombs at recent matches but very little seemed to be done about your lot setting them off on Saturday. There is a perception that away fans are given more leeway than home fans at Ashton Gate, it gets peoples back up

Personally I don't understand why it's suddenly become fashionable to act like a low calorie version of a Serbian football hooligan. Smoke bombs and flares have never been part of terrace culture over here (if you're in to that kind if thing), not sure why we should now accept them

I believe dogs that can smell explosives are specially trained by experts and are used in dangerous situations such as suspect packages,  suitcases etc at Airports and Terminals.   Normal security dogs are only used for guarding and are not trained for this specialist job.  So this measure would involve bringing in these specialists such as Bomb Disposal units and possibly trained Police dogs in explosive detection.

Even assuming the availability of such dogs ( I expect they are in high demand helping to reduce the likelihood of terrorist attacks etc) is the chemical makeup of smoke devices similar enough to explosives or will the dogs require retraining?

Surely it should be security cats, given the favoritism showed in the Non Footy section...?
