Enough Is Enough...

I've stayed away from this forum since yesterday as as always, the content is as predictable as ever...

My main concern is that with OUR fans, do we really have a chance of getting anywhere - in general, we have far more than our share of fickle fans?

I'm astounded that we are top of the league and having one of our best seasons in many years, and here we are, many fans are moaning about all sorts - it just seems people aren't happy unless they have something to moan about?

Okay, we didn't play well yesterday but we had much stronger possession stats, more shots, shots on goal, corners etc - need I go on? We lost but by one goal and only lost as we failed to take our chances FFS?

We lost at Swindon thanks to going down to ten men early on and only just lost then?

Before you jump on me, I've been following City for almost 30 years, and I've been a ST for most of that period - and yes, I often stand alone in the Atyeo trying to get chants going, sometimes successful sometimes not but all things considered, I always try and I don't moan and I don't boo!!

Get behind the lads and appreciate the great Chairman, Manager and side we have, we have so much to be pleased over...rather than have a pop back at me, get down the Gate and sign your head off, at least then it will make a positive difference!

Rant over.

In other words: You are the model fan and the rest of us are all fickle morons

I didn't say that at all, I'm simply saying how great it would be if we could all get behind the side and stay together - I listened to the PNE fans yesterday and to see their passion and togetherness was something special - that said I appreciate we were home and the support tends to be better away....and yes, that's clearly the case when we go away.

I felt quite embarrassed to listen to those so called City fans on the post-match phone in yesterday and to read some of the comments on here since the game sum up why I wrote what I did.

I might be wrong but I thought had read somewhere we were top of the league but I must be mistaken?

Agree with you on the moaning mate, I do the same in dolman although more successful than not on most games. It does irritate me when we have bad days as I believe our atmosphere can't help them and it's normally when they could do with it most rather than when were winning etc. unfortunately though people will be like this and that's it. Come sit in block b dolman when you have to move

There are 8 threads going on the main OTIB page solely to discuss either how bad we are as a team  or how bad the fans that are saying how bad a team we are.

I agree with most of what you say but TBF so do an also lot of others. Others who fall into the ignoramus on Radio Drivel who stated " It's a shambles, Geoff" camp are ever present and will find fault no matter how we do- win by 4 goals..... we should have got 6 etc.

It appears that many many posters on here don't actually attend matches ( some as they live abroad so fair enough) and others because they like to support when they feel like it. It's disappointing that Ashton Gate can be so quiet and even more so that the minute we have a rough couple of games ( which everyone predicted we would) that suddenly the wheels have come off.

It's OTIB and best just to laugh at some of the comments or, as often is the case, enjoy pointing out the  flaws in their fatuous statements. Fact (!).

Although I think those that complain about the slightest thing are a bit crazy, in a way it's a good job that they do. If they didn't each thread would be a bit dull - e. g.

Person 1: "I thought the match was great"

Person 2: "+1"

Person 3: "+1"

etc

I agree, the last 9 days have been nothing sort of embarrassing in the way some fans have reacted to the loss at Swindon and now this.

When we were doing well and a few of us pointed out it would be nice to tighten up at the back a little bit as we were conceding at least 2 a game, we were lambasted for saying if. "Were top of the league, everything's brilliant and rosy". Now weve lost a couple of games and some people seem to have gone into meltdown! All of a sudden our fairly free scoring strike force isn't good enough?!

We've lost to two teams that will be up there at the end of the season. Were still top. 3 points against Peterborough on Friday and we are back on track.

So what if we're 4th on Saturday night, there will still be 27 games left to "turn things around".

What will be important is come March, we are in a position to challenge for automatic promotion, which means being within 6 points of second place, or better if possible.

I agree but this forum will go into meltdown if we are.

Seriously, what is the point in this drivel?

Wah wah wah, get behind the team, etc etc

This doesnt provoke thought, discussion or debate.  Its just a load of self serving tripe.

Rant over (as you would say)

Drivel or reality - it's down to personal opinion - to promote debate then:-

1) Do you feel we have more than our fair share of fickle fans?

2) How do we try to educate fans towards a more positive approach?

3) How do we improve the atmosphere at the Gate, as if it's not great when we are top of the league, when will it ever be good?

1) No

2) One must not forget that we have had five years of absolutely dreadful performances by City and many supporters must have become conditioned to failure. In the darkest days at the end of McInnes and the SOD, I actually felt like going to sleep at games because it was so awful.

So perhaps we are enjoying the revival of our club but at the same time cannot believe that the whole thing will not soon collapse like a house of cards.

3) So maybe if this success continues our fans will really begin to believe and there will be a natural increase in noise to encourage as well as noise in reaction to something good happening in the game.

I believe we are good enough to go up as champions but a sizeable percentage of me still thinks that if we can **** it up, we will.
