Sponsorship Gone Mad...

BS4 on Tour...

Recommended Posts

Real Madrid have apparently taken the Christian cross off their club crest to avoid upsetting Muslim sensibilities in the United Arab Emirates where they will be marketed as they have signed a sponsorship deal with the Abu Dhabi Bank.

To me this is the same as Cardiff changing their colours - just to appease another market to try and generate money.

Clubs and their supporters just seem to accept changing history and iconic club images just to chase a quick buck.

Would we put up with it?

Unfortunately people who pay to go through the turnstiles have no choice.

I can't for the life of me understand, not or the first time, why Muslims would be so offended by a cross. If indeed they are?

I would have thought that Christians should be offended by the sight of a cross. After all, you wouldn't show the image of a sniper's rifle to anyone from the Kennedy family.

Back in your hole, Bill. You don't want to know how worse the world is than you knew.

No, the empty cross shows Jesus' victory over death.

Muslims regard Jesus not as the Son of God, but as a great prophet, so will celebrate Christmas as His birth is something to indeed celebrate. It's the events of Easter they dispute.

Would any traditional muslim team remove the star and crescent from there badge, so as not to offend Christians?

The whole world is bending over backwards to Muslims right now...for fear of offending...it's gone mental.

Something is driving this 'fear' of offending...and it's all a bit weird imho.

If you have a spare few minutes...this is how I would hope BCFC fans would react.

Interestingly an FA commitee are going to ban the

use of the word "cross" for the wide ball into the box to avoid offending Muslims ( particularly the scary throat cutting ones. ).

You could n't make it up ,or could you ?

I am waiting for the day when England remove the three lions from the badge so it doesn't offend Muslims by reminding them of one of our Kings who led a crusade against them having just recovered from a bizarre heart transplant. Twas his fault he shouldn't have booked in at that nhs hospital at Longleat.

So that's why I could not buy my Grandson a Real Madrid top for Christmas yesterday. The chap in the store said the children's tops were withdrawn and no plans to replace them before Christmas.

I like Real Madrid but I have lost some respect for them if they have done this just to get in even more money.
