That's my thoughts to.

But......

With both Man City and Chelsea out in embarressing fashion West Ham won't to be another PL outfit losing to a lower league club. If anything today's shocks will reinforce just how dangerous lower league opposition can be. That said they'll also fancy their chances of winning the FA Cup have significantly improved.

On the other hand City must surely fancy pulling off another shock.....

If all the Premier League teams still to replay (like Liverpool and Sunderland), or yet to play get through (and there is no guarantee of that) then that'll mean they'll be only nine top level sides left in the last 16.

So all it will take is one more upset for half the draw to be non-Premiership teams; wonder how often that has happened?

You pose an interesting question Samo.. someone will no doubt relieve us of our curiosity with the stats quite soon now. :)

Even if (& today's results should suggest it is "if") it does end up that 9 of the last 16 are Premier league sides, there is no guarantee again that they'll not end up being one or two all top tier matches next round, so think it would be a decent bet that at least one team from outside the Premier League will make the quarter finals this year.

Personally, would be more shocked if Villa beat Bournemouth than the other way around tomorrow, and fancy Rochdale at home to Stoke for an upset too. Am saying nothing about us and the hammers under fear of hubris.

But if you take Villa and Stoke out if the equation you're on only 7 Premier League sides in round five. Gonna be an interesting year, that's for sure.

There are 10 PL sides still in it, aren't there?

4 to play: Arsenal, West Ham, Villa, Stoke

3 replays: Man Utd, Liverpool, Sunderland

3 through: Palace, West Brom, Leicester

Still, half of the PL out already is one hell of an effort.

Yeah, you're right; too much maths for me this time of night.

Here's to that sinking to single digits tomorrow.

Thought you may have been considering West Ham to already be goners before you (probably rightly  ;) ) spoke of hubris.

Cheers to that, though. I'd be very surprised if all the remaining 7 survived.
