Holiday Snobs

More fool them then, if they think all there is to a holiday is lying on a beach in the carribean. You can find things in Wales, Cornwall or Scotland that are equally as beautiful as anything youll find abroad..For stunning beauty on our doorstep, look no further than Polperro in Cornwall or Fort Augustus on the shores of loch ness.

The only type of holidaygoer im a bit snobby towards are the "OY OY WHEEEEY" crowd that flock to Benidorm and Ibiza. Very tedious.

My Grandfather was born there! Indeed a very picturesque place.

Holiday snobs are usually just as boring as people who are snobby about cars, designer gear and so on.  No real lights on up top, ignore them.

Going to the Caribbean to sit in an all inclusive resort is a waste of money, most people don't venture out and see the place and just like to say they've been there.  And it's full of yanks.

I had a holiday in Gozo the other year and it was lovely - try Patrick's if you want a slap up meal.  The war rooms in Malta are worth a visit too, I'm not too bothered about that sort of thing usually but it was very interesting.

All I'd say on holidays is go to as many different places as you can and dive right in when you get there.  Speak to the locals, eat the cuisine, see the place.

And don't ignore the UK either - as others say above there are some cracking places here.  The Lake District is breathtaking for example.

A tedious ride through France before hitting Spain, Italy or Switzerland and ride through the Alps/Pyrenees for a week. The Spanish are particularly motorbike friendly and the Italians are too if you have a '46' sticker on your bike/helmet and Switzerland has some amazing roads. France hate motorbikes though so get through it fast.

Am I a holiday snob? We went to Sao Tome e Principe last year and French Polynesia the year before.

Got nothing to do with wanting to show off, just want to see some bits of the world I haven't experienced.

Vancouver Island this year, but I have to book somewhere hot for Mrs Robbo too as she's already moaning about not getting her tanning time in....

With 1/7 of the Earth's population starving and even people in this country struggling to make ends meet, I still view a holiday as a privilege and luxury. It's come to something if people are using holidays to compare dick size. Sad bastards.

It is my ambition to see as much of the world as I feasibly can, though. I love a bit of travel, more so than 'holidaying'.

Absolutely, I recall spending two weeks in my parents caravan in dorset in the 2002 August heateave (or was it 2003) where it hit 80+ degrees every day.. Absolutely bliss spending most of it on studland beach (not THAT part)

Also big shout out for West Wales.. Some of the beaches are breathtaking - Harlech a particular favorite for me and the wife.

I'm a massive self-avowed holiday snob and I don't care. Why do people go for a week in Marbella then eat pie and chips in the Red Lion every ******* day? Why do people go to the same hotel in Bognor in the same week every sodding year with the same people? I LOVE going to random, different places in the world, eating the local food and seeing stuff that might as well be from a different planet compared to Blighty.

That said, I'd never turn my nose up at people holidaying in the UK. Some awesome places to visit without ever needing your passport

I wouldn't class your take on diverse holidays as snobbish at all. Like you I like to travel to different countries to experience the culture, food and people.

And I also wonder why some folk return to the same place year after year whether it be in the UK or abroad. I guess they just lack imagination and the desire to see different places.

Mrs Robbo and I have been on 4 different cruises around the Med and the Red Sea. We visited Cairo, Petra, Jerusalem, Pompeii, Carcasonne, Salvadour Dali birth and burial place in North East Spain, Barcelona, Ephesus, Istanbul. We enjoyed Turkey so much that we went back for a different holiday type to Bitez.

Now we are in Western Oz which will probably be our only overseas trip this year.
