2013:  Doncaster     69 Points + 15 Points in last 8 games = 84 points

2012:  Charlton        82 Points + 19 Points in last 8 games = 101 points

2011:  Brighton        83 Points + 12 Points in last 8 games = 95 points

2010:  Norwich        82 Points + 13 Points in last 8 games = 95 points

2009:  Leicester       81 Points + 15 Points in last 8 games = 96 points

2007:  S'thorpe        75 Points + 16 Points in last 8 games = 91 points

2006:  Southend      70 Points + 12 Points in last 8 games = 82 points

2005:  Luton            79 Points + 19 Points in last 8 games = 98 points

During the last 10 years:

Minimum points the champions picked up in last 8 games = 12 points

Maximum points the champions picked up in last 8 games = 20 points

Average points the champions picked up in last 8 games = 15 points

Can we add a couple of bits of data to the ladder - which for me is by far the best way I've seen to look at the overall picture in one glance

95 points mathematically guarantees us promotion (including all the permutations of the four matches remaining between the top 4). 98 points mathematically guarantees the top spot. I can update as the games unwind....

Are you sure those figures are correct?

I make it that in a worst case scenario Swindon could win their remaining 9 matches taking them on to 97 points and PNE could win 8 of their last 9 (losing only to Swindon) taking them on to 97 points as well.

Preston can only reach 98 now, which would be 95 if they lost to Swindon.

Preston still play Swindon, so for promotion we only need 96  for mathematical certainty (if Swindon win that match to get their 97, Preston can only get 95, if Preston win, Swindon can only get 94, if its a draw Preston can get 96, Swindon 95). If (I know, big if) we beat both of them, we would be on 91 and would need 93 for certain promotion, 95 for the champions spot

A good chance we will get more points than any recent champion then. What is the record?

Those points are the amount required to clinch not overall total. Wolves got 103 last year I think.
