cider head
Haven't seen it mentioned for a while. Does anybody what's happening now? Last time there were talks of designs for the statue. The supporters club and trust have picked the sculptor to do the work and had a meeting with him so i assume he is off planning the work.
T R
Does anyone know what size it will be? Also would it be possible for the club to set up some kind of webcam so we can watch it being made? That would be interesting to see. Finally what is going to be the location of it?

You would have to ask the club and trust about the web cam as i don't think it will be made on site at Ashton gate. The chap chosen is the sculptor who made the Bill shankley statue at Liverpool and at a guess the size like the pic below but to confirm that a club and trust board member may answer that. I am aware the sculptor had a meeting with BCFC also about location.

I was thinking the sculptures actual workshop for a webcam or just photos of different stages. Could someone in club and trust ask this question to the club? As for the location, I just can't make me mind up to suggest where I think it should go. I will leave it for the club to decide. I am really pleased it is being done after such a long time. With this new squad of ours perhaps we may have a few more statues to go up.
Milo
Still a few i's to dot and t's to cross before we confirm the sculptor or size. We'll confirm as soon as we are able to. The size is likely to be 1+1/4 size (the usual size for statues) but 1+1/2 size is also possible. We don't need to finalise the size until a later date. Hopefully we'll be in a position to make a press release in a week or two.
Redland
If you haven't made a decision yet could I suggest that you approach Carl Payne. He sculpted the Stanley Matthews statue at the Britannia Stadium and the Stadium Of Light bronze at Sunderland. Has also done bronzes of Bobby Moore, Pele and Roger Bannister. I met him last year and explained that City were looking for a sculptor to craft a bronze of John Atyeo. He said he would be really interested in this commission. We don't want to end up with a bronze like the one of Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford which looks nothing like him.
Mad Cyril
I thought we were using the bloke who does Morph?
AshtonGreat
What about a statue of Lee Johnson? It would be cheaper
Drew Peacock
Aren't we scrapping the Atyeo idea and putting up one of Carey now he has the appearance record?

cidered abroad
Aren't we scrapping the Atyeo idea and putting up one of Carey now he has the appearance record? Please, please, NO. One was a truly great player and person, played six times for England while a Second Division player and who became a well respected schoolteacher after football. The other was a good player for a long time but who only got the record with sub appearances some of which were not more than a couple of minutes. cider head
Billy wedlock deserves one, maybe the club could get a Wedlock statue as a token to what the club and trust have done? At Arsenal statues are everywhere. Still a few i's to dot and t's to cross before we confirm the sculptor or size. We'll confirm as soon as we are able to. Eddie Hitler
Nobody supporting me in my campaign for a Tony Dinning statue then? His five loan appearances and fourteen whilst our player were the highlight of the 2004/05 season for me and surely deserve some kind of permanent recognition. Lew-T
Not sure if I've seen it mentioned on the new stadium thread. Will we have an appreciation board of City's greatest players like Gow, Ritchie, Wedlock etc? Just pictures of the players and the apps and goals they've scored for the club. Will be good for the younger generation to see. I remember when I first started going to watch City and I was in an awe of the picture of Atyeo and I immediately took an interest to the club.
