Following on from City's fabulous win at Wembley, I take a closer look at the form of Aden Flint and debate his increasingly influential role in the side.

Comments, feedback and, of course, shares, all very welcome.
Thanks for reading :-)

Flinty is simply awesome.

For a Club that previously demonstrated a strong commitment to 'continuous deterioration' in player performances his start did not bode well for his time with us. However, thanks to the messiah (Cotts) we have now adopted a 'continuous improvement' philosophy and Flinty is top of the class without question.

Being City, things could still all go pear shaped but even I, having witnessed many false dawns, believe that there will be no collapse in players performances this time. Hail 'Freddie' Flintstone - player of the year in waiting.

I'd love him to score an absolutely huge goal for us like he did for the inbreds. 95th minute title winner for example. I remember watching this game and thought id love a guy who can do this for us. Then we did sign him and he turned out to be a poor mans Matt Heywood. Not so anymore.....

A great read Exiled , well written and a really good piece :h

Love Aden Flint - every supporter loves a JT / Aden Flint in their team

Totally committed and a raging desire to win , a warrior

Also think we have a very healthy situation , that helps and has helped greatly this season , where we have natural leaders in each the different 'departments' and through the spine of the pitch Flint. - Elliot / Smith - Wilbraham

Ohhhh happy days :)

The use of the word "character" can be overused in today's media scramble for the use of over a descriptive words.

Yet, for Aden Flint, his strength of character to get over the dismal time that he had the previous season, clearly demonstrates how strong in mind he is.

He leads by example, has improved his performances immeasurably and is a person/player I would like to see at Bristol City for many years.

As ever, a very well written blog by The Exiled Robin.

He as certainly grown under Cotterill's management, under SOD, he looked shot of confidence and his positioning was questionable.

Now there is an element of stability within the backline and the whole team grows from that. All successful teams have good defences (just ask Liverpool last season).

I would personally make Korey Smith the next captain with Flint as Vice Captain. Smith is a phenomenal footballer and I still cannot get my head around how we ended up with him. This way Flint ends up having some seniority within the club. Smith also was Oldham captain before joining us.

I've seen some put downs on here over the years, but that has to be the worst....!!

Great piece, Exiled. The pic of Flint with the trophy - I said this to a mate in the week....I didn't go on Sunday. I've seen 3 of the finals, feel like I've been there, seen it, done it. Look at Flint's reaction though, it means something to him, to the team, and seeing the celebrations after the game made me think I'd never miss a final again (not for a few years now though, I hope!). Any time you get chance to see your team at Wembley and win a trophy, it absolutely does mean something

As for captain material, absolutely, but I'd have to agree I'd give it to Smith next season, with Flint as vice. He's a leader, his team mates seem to adore him, but Smith just feels more suited to it

Remember the last minute back pass at Vale Park, and also when he got injured this time last year, I suspect there were a few sighs of relief that he was out of the team. The turnaround is simply amazing

The last line of the piece sums it up, to us 40 somethings, he's the new Sean Taylor. In 20 years time the 20 somethings of today will be talking about the new Aden Flint

...and i reiterate again -- only ONE booking -- is there a centre half who is anywhere near that? it is not as if he shirks tackles or anything like that -- anticipation and timing so good.

As for last year the defence were defending in the six yard box so not surprising there was chaos with defence and goal keeper -- now we are defending much further out as against Walsall last week.

300k looks a bargain now...

And wern't we being ridiculed last season for paying it by some Swindle fans?! Probably one of the best come backs by a heavily berated player since Tinnion? Although I do remember tan man also having a remarkable but short lived come back!

You're right, Jones had a couple of months where I think everyone decided to get off his back and support him. Amazingly he scored a few during that time....wonderful thing, support
