UREDS_91
Called up for England along with Charlie Austin and Jamie Vardy, good keeper imo. Didn't have the defence in front of him when he was here. Thoughts?

sportingmad0209
Fair play to him... Following in the footsteps of our current number 1. International career - Frank Fielding Fielding was capped twice by the England under-19s, playing in games against the Netherlands and Czech Republic in May 2007.[33] He made his England under-21 debut on 18 November 2008, replacing the injured Joe Lewis in the 33rd minute at Bramall Lane against the Czech Republic. Fielding received his first England call-up on 10 August 2010 for the friendly against Hungary, after Ben Foster withdrew from the squad.[34][35] The decision to call up a keeper whose highest level of domestic experience was in the third tier of English football drew criticism.[36] England won the match 2-1, with Fielding an unused substitute.[37] Fielding was called up to the under-21 squad for the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Although Fielding was 23 at the time of his call up, he was under 21 when the qualification phase began, making him eligible for the tournament.[38] Fielding played the full 90 minutes of a pre-tournament friendly against the Norway under-21s on 5 June, keeping a clean sheet as England won 2-0.[39]

petehinton
I seem to recall some of those on here frequently saying he: A) was too small B) too weak c) had bad distribution d) was always rooted to his line for crosses/corners

Will fit in well with the rest of the 3rd raters who comprise the squad these days.
Carey 6
He was overrated here. Very average. At Burnley hes been much better though. More importantly, Vardy has been called up, why? Ashley Young should be in there.

Numero Uno
Unfortunately it shows in bright lights the lack of quality in the Goalkeeping department we have in England. Nowhere near International standard.

GrahamC
Good luck to him. A great example of someone rebuilding their career after being just a back up at Cardiff, then Watford pulled the plug on a deal to sign him and his season with us was pretty disastrous. Carey 6
Agree with that, but he still isn't good enough. Isn't good enough for what, England? Maybe 10/15 years ago, but now England are a very average international side filled with Average players. I think Young is good enough for England. Numero Uno
Completely agree, he's only third choice anyway so won't get near a minute of game time I remember the likes of Phil Parkes getting nowhere near an England team and Joe Corrigan being number 3 pick pretty much permanently. Heaton is a decent keeper and has had a good season for Burnley, I won't disagree, but England material? No, no, just no!!

There was a time when I think England's tenth best keeper would've walked in to any other international team in the world.

Admin phantom Posted May 21, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted May 21, 2015 Am sure that I read there were only 5 English keepers on the Premier League. Joe Hart - Man City Rob Green - QPR Jack Butland - Stoke Tom Heaton - Burnley Who was the other? Not really alot of competition !
Rocky
England squads are average at best these days. It's been about club football for many years as far as I am concerned.
