New Kit Leak?

Those have been on there for a week or so. I thought exactly the same when I saw them then, but then just presumed it was just for the Purple kit - only looking a lot brighter!!

Then nobody else mentioned it so went with the latter....

Click/tap on those items and you get the following description (shorts example in this case):

"Your last chance to order the 14/15 purple and lime 3rd kit Shorts This is a pre-order product, products will be made at the end of the pre-order period. All the orders will be posted and are scheduled to be delivered early August."

So nope, not a kit leak.

Ok, I may be in a minority of one, but just don't get this 'purple and lime' thing.

It's now not even the same colorings really in which we beat Liverpool away, so why the clamour to keep the purple and green?!

And I know people will say 'we've got a fantastic record wearing purple and green' - have we really?

I think we've got a better record wearing red and white away from home, and I still think our traditional away colours of white shirts, back shorts, black socks is the way forward.

We beat Arsenal awAy in this kit, it was a solid away kit when we were last up amongst the game's elite...

I think it's a quirky feature that has captured our imaginations.

Agree that the traditional white and black is preferable but am not against the purple and lime.

Only think the purple should be deeper purple and the lime more lime.

Whinging Limeys, indeed.

I dont even agree that White shirts black shorts is our "traditional" away kit!

this season aside, I can only remember an adidas and uhlsport white/black combo in the last 15 or so years, we've had more white shirts red shorts!

Boring though isn't it?! This gives us a bit of identity!

White and Black kit is just boring. Purple and Lime is OURS. So I say we keep it as at least it's different.

If the colours were actually like the old kit from the nineties I'd be all for it, but the colours this year were way off of that old kit.

It should be a horrible vivid lime green not the barney the dinosaur green from this year!

Many will share that view.

City already have a strong identity linked to its regionalism. The colours of the Gows, Hunters, Whiteheads is a traditional red, white and white and black away. The same identity is celebrated at the Lions flag day and by the flags covering the Dolman v Walsall - A red, white and black one [to a lesser degree].

The Purple and Lime gimmick has little place in that traditionalism.

Last seasons purple and lime was purple and green, nice but reminded me more of the Wimbledon Tennis colours than the P&L of old. This season I would like it updated a bit, make the purple strong and the lime, well more Limey. Like those almost glo in the dark kits. We could have one of those graduated/blended designs merging from purple into lime.

Come on BS get designing! I won't hold my breath though, I'm fully expecting our away kit to be a white/black version of our home kit. Boring!!!

Thing is though mate, that probably doesn't cut much ice with the kids of today, who are the ones likely to be buying it.

I've got no problem with white/black , like many of the older fans, I do see it as traditional.

By the same token, I can remember watching City in a yellow/black away kit back in the '80s, yellow/green, purple/green, green/black/red striped monstrosity. I'd actually like to see us go for something a bit different to what we're used to. Black/White stripes or hoops would be a departure from the norm.

IMO changing the away kit every now and then is ok, just as long as we stick with the basic red/white/red for our home kit, but even that is open to debate amongst fans who started watching us in all red or wearing white socks. Bloody minefield it is!!

I like the purple and lime, it's City - although Swindle tried something a bit similar in the Sheff U away leg

Home has to be red, white, red. I hated that all red kit from 10 / 12 years ago, that was just wrong. One simply does not **** around with the home kit

Completely agree with you - I believe those that like this new kit are those that were not around when we beat Liverpool etc

Yes we beat them in the cup, but my memory of that kit was how shit we were under Russel Osman that season

There is nothing in those colours that relates to our history or idendity - it was part of last season, let's move on and leave it there
