Rudolf Hucker
Look for single tickets rather than returns. Likely to be cheaper.

Admin phantom Posted June 24, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted June 24, 2015 For that price if there were a few of you it would be cheaper to hire a coach or even a limo for the day Not direct for this match, but this link may be of help to people http://www.splityourticket.co.uk/stations/Bristol-Temple-Meads.aspx
Robin1988
Might well be quicker to fly to Newcastle and find your way from there, if you go without luggage it's normally pretty cheap in advance.

BRISTOL86
I'm going up on easyjet but only if the flight gets back to Bristol before kickoff and both Anthony and Tony Rougier are on board.

T R
I love how you call it Lulsgate. Are you flying on a Dakota? They used to call it RAF lulsgate bottom. I think it was called that because most of the pilots used to crap themselves when they took off in fog or low cloud.
Red-Robbo
There are often cheaper fare options if you are prepared to travel across country and avoid London.

That's why it was set up apparently - as a foul weather training centre... so of course this was the site chosen for our airport instead of "other suitable runways"..... Perfect choice by Bristol's leaders. Foggy, no tram, rail or motorway links. Lot of brown envelopes, I suspect, though.
Aizoon
I concur. I looked up a route going BTM to Middlesbrough via taunton, Oxford, Severn junction, Hereford, Aberystwyth, uttoxeter, Carlisle, Buxton and Gretna Green. It costs more and takes five days each way. So no, the split ticket does not come up trumps on this one. The bizarre thing is that I can believe you did

The decision not to use Filton was due to too many houses in the area should an a/c overshoot or crash when on finals.

Bristol airport nearly became a motor racing circuit but I think politics got in the way. Only two races were held there. http://www.petestowe.talktalk.net/Lulsgate_races.htm As for the Bristol airport being chosen for the commercial airport of Bristol, I think Whitchurch airport was considered to be too small, they couldn't increase the length of the runway. The ideal location for an airport would have been Filton but the runway was owned by Bristol aerospace, if a commercial airport was set up there they would have to pay rent to the company so Lulsgate got the nod. Also apparently a tractor comes very handy at Bristol airport, so I read.
