I had a moan about this a while ago and its still bothering me so I thought I'd canvas opinion (and see if I could actually put a poll together).

I find everything lobbed into a single thread annoying.  I don't want to wade through everything to to find out the latest news on a particular potential target.  Similarly, I'm sure the trail on any particular target soon gets jumbled up and interspersed with another.  Sure, merge multiple threads about the same player into one, but surely it makes more sense to have a thread for each player so each could stand or fall off page 1 on its own merits i.e. whether it has legs.

This probably won;t change things, but I can at least get it off my chest and move on!!!

So what's your preference?

Hopefully the rubbish/worth a punt ones will drop off page 1 pretty quick as long a no one replies.  Only the one with any merit hang about.

Yeah just like the Luke Freeman to QPR after he was linked on Twitter thread has?

This is a difficult one. Each substantiated rumour needs to have its own thread. But where do you draw the line?

Anyway, I'm off the Zoo. If someone could please ensure that the next time I check my phone that there is a thread entitled solely with a players name with an inordinate amount of posts versus how long it's been active, then I'd be very happy!

I think they should each have there own. This summer has been very quiet on here and I think that's the main reason. I avoid the big merged thread as I haven't got the time to read it all.

Used to love coming on here to see a potential name linked, but this summer the only name I've read on here is Matt Smith.

Would be so much easier if there were separate threads. How are people supposed to know of new rumours etc when it is buried in 15 pages?

Because anything that has a media story to back it up ends up getting its own thread anyway?

For example, there is currently 4 threads on the 1st page about movements of players already.

Can we just have a thread called "Close Season Bollox" ?

Personally I've had time to go through what was a 74 page thread on the forum app and couldn't be bothered... Still non the wiser on who we've been linked with.

I had no idea who this forrester bloke is and whether there's any truth in the 'Friday press talk' from yesterday and I'm quite a regular reader of the forum

If they're substantiated rumours there will be; a recognised journo tweeting, something in an online source that isn't transferrumours.com or a paper story before long

I reckon I've seen more different threads about where JETs going than separate 'City are going to sign...' Threads

so what is the point of the poll then?

Have one thread of rubbish ie ignore it completely and only read the separate threads?

I'd much prefer each rumour to have its own thread as then it would be easy to decided whether it's worth the effort of reading it. I gave up reading the main transfer rumour thread weeks ago as it was hard work wading through the endless rumours / suggestions. It's now reached 34 pages!

Prefer seperate threads to much effort trawling through a merged thread for most it to be bollocks!

We haven't signed a single player in that 34 page thread. People we sign will get a thread of their own. Not reading that thread means you've missed nothing & actually kept several hours of your life for more important things ;)

Why not just add a subforum under "Bristol City Q & A", "Fans Advisory Network" and "Stadium Matters" and call it "Transfers & Speculation", that way people who want to check on the latest rumours or confirmed transfers could simply go to that forum, it would make things so much easier and far more organised?

Good shout as long as there was separate threads within it.

Following on from the transfer sub forum idea; what about a closed forum with a separate topic for each transfer target - each topic is closed, and is just updated with concrete news/legit Twitter talk/news paper links. This is so that threads like the Mark Bunn one don't get hijacked with awful puns and rubbish jokes and actual news can be easily found? Would take a bit of work to do, but could be useful for those of us who prefer to read developing news on rumoured targets.

The only suggestion I'd make is that if we stick with separate topics for players, any reference to anything on twitter should have an explanation of why it's been brought to the forum's attention if it's come from someone who isn't a proper professional journo at a proper outfit, or a footballer/manager. I've seen quite a few links to tweets from people claiming to know something, with no idea of who they are or why they should be listened to.

To clarify, 'proper' means an actual newspaper or reputable broadcaster. It doesn't mean bloggers, 'twitter personalities' and the like. No-one has the time to sift through the thousands of those and know if any of them are actually worth paying attention to.

I come in here, a thread entitled "Transfer Rumours/Signing Thread" with 27 replies, and yet there's not one mention, not even a sniff, of any transfer rumours or actual signings.

I don't have this time to waste people.

What is the bleeeeeeeeeedin' world coming to?

The poll isn't correct anyway as it does not reflect the current moderating status quo.

There should be a 3rd option of:

"Have a big merged thread for when someone is linked by a 10 year old on Twitter or we are linked to a player on that Transfer rumours website but if we are linked to a player by something more substantial then it can go in its own thread".
