All's not Well at Oakwell as sickness bug hits Barnsley

I don't know of one single bitter Barnsley fan regards him going to Bristol. Not one.

Most were happy that he'd gone or indifferent to it. Any animosity is regarding a perceived lack of loyalty to our owner who stuck with him after 8 league defeats in a row and an FA Cup exit at Altrincham. But I don't hold that grudge myself. Lee says Bristol City is his club and he'd have left any other to return. Fair enough in my book. And look what we achieved once he left. So I don't see any bitterness.

Lee's doing well at AG, Hecky is doing well at Oakwell. Happy ever after.

The man's lower than a rattle snake and just as trustable in my view .

For whatever reason Cryne stuck with him when we were going through that horror run last season , he should have gone 30 seconds after the final whistle at Altrincham for me .

Played the most brain dead style of football for the league we were in it's being my displeasure to ever see .

Cryne took his departure on the chin and respectfully invited him to the JPT final as his guest , according to a piece I read at the time in the Bristol Post he was treating it as a scouting mission and nothing more .

He then embarks on a policy of trying to sign some of our players in the summer , doing nothing illegal but just shows the morality of the snake .

If Cryne hadn't stuck with him last season he wouldn't have got the Bristol job , in fact he'd have being lucky to get another job at all at that time .

Little time for the little git , he can't crash and burn quickly enough for me .

Agree completely Dennis. The mans a weasel who has no loyalty for anyone other than himself. Not even a good manager, how many defeats did it take for him to see what we all knew, one up front didnt work. Hope he gets the reception he deserves and leaves oakwell with that smug grin wiped off his face.

Christ, bitter or what, I think Dennis and his new boyfriend need to get a room

Calling him a shit manager is a bit silly when we are above them in the league and he started their rise to promotion.

They are seriously bitter about him leaving them, what made it worse though was him saying he was on a scouting mission, disrespectful thing to say really!

I think it sticks in their craw a bit more than it should do because we're doing well and are comfortably higher in the table than them. Doesn't fit with their "crap manager" theory.

We are down to the barest of bare bones. Hourihane, Scowen, White and Roberts have been massive for us in 2016. We have one first-team central midfielder available. So we'll either have to slot in a defender or give a debut to a teenager.

But I'm looking forward to it nevertheless. No excuses needed.

How would we feel if for example, Cotts had  left us during our promotion season and just before our Wembley final ?

To go to a club perceived as being the same size as City ?

Risking blowing it all as we suddenly found ourselves without a manager and unsure of the outcome ?

Then , when the transfer window opens all the media link Flint , Smith , Bryan, our star players with Cotts New club ?

I can understand the bitterness but that is football and as supporters we have to swallow hard and get on with following our club .

How many City fans wish Pulis well ?

Glasshouses and all that .

I wish you would stop being so bloody reasonable and get back to proper posting.  I remember when Joe Jordan left for Hearts, all part of life's rich pattern.  Both Barnsley and us are on the way up. As long as we rise more quickly I wish them well after tomorrow.  Pulis was bloody awful for us - and I was delighted when he left!  Part of being a football supporter is having to live through these "interesting" episodes and experiencing the joys of anticipation when you can actually imagine how things might improve fro your team.

Aren't you four points above us? I think your idea of comfortable differs from mine. But to be honest, I'm more than happy with our current standing. 12th in the Championship with a squad built on £1,150,000.

Lee is a decent manager, I think he'll become great.

Don't judge the vast majority of a club's supporters after reading a handful of *********' posts on a forum...

It was a reply to a City fan saying it was 'mind games', the talk of sickness etc.

We genuinely have 9 players out tomorrow. A lad making his debut in midfield signed from AFC Fylde.

Not an excuse. Just a fact. I still fancy us.

That's a fine post. But again, it's not bitterness. Nobody cared about him staying/leaving. They just feel he's a tosser for leaving when and how he did. As I say, I couldn't care less. I liked Lee. But I like Hecky a lot more. He's one of us. Be weird if I didn't. He has a 60% win ratio.

Hi - I have it on very good authority that Hecky has a huge problem with your chairman and their relationship has become extremely strained as of late. Any rumours of that up there? I have several mates who live in Barnsley and are die hard Tykes so tomorrow is a must not lose for me!!

If Cotts was leaving for a club in a higher division, that he regarded as his club, that he almost helped get to the top tier, but ultimately fell short in the playoff final and held himself responsible. And said club had a bigger budget, then I would be sad to see him go but wish him well.

Of course, even that doesn't account for the fact that we were still comfortably in the top few places when we won our semi final, whereas even after the great run under LJ, Barnsley weren't even in the playoffs at that point (by memory)

Not to mention the chance of managing in front of an average say 19,000 (exc away) home fans compared to about 11,000. Which in both percentage terms and in jumping a division, is the same as us begrudging Johnson a move to Leicester, Spurs or Southampton!

Don't worry about it. We started the season with our best midfielder and right back out (who have only just come back to fitness now!) and an 18 year old kid upfront who had never played a professional league game before. I'm sure it will be a good game. Hoping it goes back to the Bristol city vs Barnsley days of old where you were always a nice 6 points every season

Pulis was taking us nowhere, pretty much everyone was glad to see the back of the rodent looking pr1ck.

Agree with the example you used with Cotts and if he'd left us whilst we were doing well in the league and JPT. I can also understand the bitterness towards LJ and the desire many Barnsley fans must have to beat his new team.

It does make me laugh how Barnsley fans on social media go to great lengths to explain how 'apparently' they really hated the football under Johnson and how he was actually a shit manager who they're glad came to us...but then embark on a massive hissy fit about how much they want revenge on him.

I'd be angry if I lived in Barnsley .
