The Great City Run

I am a life-long City fan currently exiled in London. I've kept up my season ticket in the Dolman and still go to just about every home games. But living in London means the London away days are much easier for me to get to - but not Brentford away!

On 1 April this year me and another City fan will be running from south east London to Griffin Park in time to watch the match. We are both running the London Marathon three weeks later so the 17 and a half mile run will be good training for us. To add some interest, we have decided to add a sporting twist to the run so we will start at the Valley, home of Charlton Athletic, as that is close by. Our run will then continue on past the Den in Millwall, then to the Oval in Kensington (where they play a funny old sport with a ball but no feet!), over the Thames to Chelsea (I'll pass the forum's regards to Wael if I see him watching his favourite team), then a quick sprint over to Craven Cottage (here's hoping this trip to the Cottage ends with 3 points like my last three) and then the home straight out to Brentford.

We are both running the London Marathon for charity - I am doing it for the World Cancer Research Fund and my friend is running it (with his brother) for Sense.

I've put links to our fundraising pages below and would kindly ask anyone who can, to help some fellow Reds make a difference and raise some money for two excellent causes. Donations are also welcome from our blue cousins - we know one of you has an extra £150k to get rid of quickly!

All donations do make a difference and getting us closer to our fundraising targets makes the long tiring training runs pounding the polluted London roads that much better.

If you see us on our run into Brentford, make sure you give us a cheer of encouragement!

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, really is appreciated - lest hope we benefit from some extra karma.

I ran a half marathon the same day as LJ ran the Bath one and I beat him by about ten minutes so hopefully I won't be late to the game!

Looking forward to seeing you there to thank you personally - I'll bring some deodorant for the game though!

So today's the big day. Please follow #RunFootballRun on Twitter to follow our progress as we run 18 miles across London. We will be posting updates as we run from ground to ground so please share them to help raise awareness of the 2 great charities we are running for. Fingers crossed this will help generate some much needed karma and that we'll be able to bounce around Griffin Park despite the pain in our knees!

Many thanks to those who have shared and donated so far.

See you at Brentford!
