The case for the self employed NICs has changed since the abolition of second state pension.  The new arrangement give them a higher pension and it is only fair to the rest of society that they pay their way.  Any change is a matter of regret, but whilst we have such a huge deficit and the debt that is being built up by having that deficit, we all have to stump us a bit more.  The top 1% of earners are paying 27% of the whole income tax take, so they are more than doing their bit.  Having known a number of London cabbies, I would not feel sorry for them, they make a lot more than you might imagine and tips are never fully declared - plus they can work as long as they need to fit their financial requirements.

Christ! Who tips a black cab driver?  I never have and never will!  I know only too well how much they make, so if they want a tip they'd better stick to fleecing American tourists!

Whilst I'm self employed, the amount I earn doesn't change from week to week, so this will actually be a cut in what I earn. Hence why I'm not impressed.

You can also earn more before you start to pay tax - so I don't think it will hurt you very much at all.  Emplyed earnings are subject to employees and employers NICs - so are still taxed more heavily than self employed earnings - and with your additional pension expectations, you are not really being harshly treated.  We still have a vast deficit.  Even pensioners have been badly hit - I lost about £2000 a year by being a few months too young and losing my second state pension. The age allowance was kicked into touch a few years ago - we are all in this together.  I still owe you a bacon sarnie!

I'm bored with a Conservative government.

I'm voting Jezza in in 2020.

Time for casino budgets - let's spend big!!

I'm talking trillions of unfunded projects the country cannot afford -

- double the NHS budget = twice the service?

- not £2B for social care - let's spend that every month

- scrap trident and spend the money on bomb-proof affordable housing

- banish inequality - 99 % tax on anyone earning for than min wage

- min wage £25 per hour, with no requirement to work

- fixed 25 year terms for Labour leaders
