Live key chains on sale in China

Apparently they are becoming less common for for several years you can buy key chains that contain live newts, terrapin's etc in a coloured liquid - where you can attach your keys, carry it around and watch it die. Brought to you fromt he land that thinks boiling dogs alive makes them taste better.

That's just awful.

Was lucky enough on a trip to Malaysia to spend an evening with a turtle protection officer. They guard the beaches where eggs are laid. It's a damn shame when you learn that it can take 20+ years for one to reach breeding age and the eggs are sold to be eaten etc for just £1.

I was offered turtle in a restaurant in Malaysian Borneo. Needless to say, I said no but evidently turtles are still eaten in that part of the world despite it being against the law
