handsofclay
A sniffer dog in Auckland, NZ was shot dead when it got loose. It had caused runways to be closed before the order was given for police to shoot the ten months old dog, trained to help with the safety of passengers, dead. The authorities have themselves come under fire for not using a tranquilizer dart, though a so say expert said that that isn't always the best option as the weight of the animal etc needs to be guaged and if it went wrong it could've left the dog even more stressed. Jeez, at least it would've been still alive though! Obviously, the fact runways had been closed and flights delayed and it would've been delayed further had a tranquilizer dart been obtained from Auckland Zoo, it was a commercial consideration as to why the dog had to Kop it. Thus it makes me think that a man's best friend isn't his dog, it's his money...Well in NZ anyway
Septic Peg
Read this earlier. They spent 3 hours trying to catch it. Why couldn't they have just spent 1 hour trying to catch it and the other 2 getting a tranq dart from nearby Auckland Zoo? Rubbish that a dog needs to be weighed. They don't weigh animals in the zoo necessarily. Could a set of scales hold a rhino, hippo or elephant for example? These animals are often tranquillised for routine checks and ops. They could have given a very small dose that would have been completely safe which would have made the dog extremely lethargic but not sedated (therefore easier to catch). It's a disgrace that an animal that has been brought into public service to protect us is then discarded like a piece of shit. Auckland Airport has a lot to answer for.
