ApplePress
Back in June 2016 my wife and some friends did a women only sponsored bike across 3 national parks in Tanzania in aid of Women versus Cancer. They had a collection night at the Gate and I posted a big thanks to the fans for their donations. Amy from Bristol City Community Trust organised a donation of BCFC kit for my wife to take. 9-10 months on, here's a picture of some of the kids from a local village they visited. The kids help out by digging for a clean water supply for the village.

ApplePress
The school these kids go to is part of a crowdfund that was set up by one of the ladies who went on the trip last year. They are looking to fund a clean water source for the school so the kids have one of the basics available to them like drinking water. They are still looking for donations but I wasn't sure about posting the justgiving link.

Harry
Great stuff. Don't really intend on being rude and taking any glory away from the opening poster, but just wanted to add to this thread in relation to some work that myself and a few others are going to be doing in Kenya in June this year. You may have already seen my post in regard to a cycle ride to the Brentford away game that a number of us are doing but this is just one event in a series of events that we are participating in for a charity partnership we have set up called B Strong U Belong. This is a partnership that has been set up by a group of City fans and we have partnered with two Bristol mental health charities, Off The Record and Second Step, who both do fantastic work in providing support and raising awareness of mental health. B Strong U Belong (BSUB), was created by us (a group of City lads), in the wake of our very good friend Pete Davies, who sadly took his own life in 2012. A lot of you may know Pete's brother Rich, who is the flowery shirted gent who sells lots of City stickers. The City Sticker Club was set up in Pete's memory, and it's been a great success, and helped fund many of the flags you see at the Gate these days. We have now taken BSUB a step further and partnered with these charities, as a legacy to Pete. We've already completed some fundraisers (10k Rocket Run, Forest of Dean half marathon yesterday (still aching), fantasy football leagues, football scratchcards, as well as the upcoming cycle to Brentford). But the biggie is going to be our visit to Kenya in June where we will hiking a mountain as well as volunteering at an orphanage and a sports academy. The opening picture on this thread brought this into recognition for me. We are going to be taking a number of items to Kenya with us for the orphanage, and we already have around 60 Bristol City kits that we will be taking. In addition, we are looking for the following items : Pencils/pens/felts/pads Football equipment (kit, shin pads, balls) Picture books or colouring books Blankets Board Games, Jigsaws Kids clothes & girls hair accessories Mosquito Nets Small cuddly toys Soap/toothpaste So, if any of you know anyone who might run a company that has a surplus of this type of stuff, or you can donate anything of the above, we'd love to hear from you. We are planning to go over there with a lovely haul of stuff and hope to see many many happy faces when we arrive.
