Bloke in the pub last night reckons the UWE project is dead in the water and isn't going to happen.

Rovers don't have the money, Wally doesn't have (or won't put up) the money and backers are thin on the ground.

One of the major stumbling blocks is the Mem, for the financial numbers to start adding up and to possibly attract outside investment they need to sell it. This presents two problems.

1. It isn't worth anything like the number Sainsbury's were willing to pay.

2. As a residential investment any buyer would want immediate occupation as the financial outlook is uncertain with the European situation. So with interest rates low, the moment the ink is dry a developer would want to send to bulldozers straight in and not wait for UWE to he built.

Does this tie in with anything anyone else has heard?

Someone over on their forum seems to have summed it up pretty well ...

"The truth is IMO, on the pitch, DC is beginning to struggle, we concede too many goals and do not score enough; off the pitch, Wael has gone quiet, understandably, the honey-moon period is over, communication with the fans has stopped, no doubt he is working out how to get rid. Only time will tell."

How reliable is this 'bloke in the pub?'  Was it informed opinion or guessing?

How much more reliable do you want..?!

Come on. There has always been a bloke in the pub who knows everything that everybody else doesn't.

Of course, I'm sure he was asked his name, job title and where he had heard his information and I'm sure it wouldn't have just been from another bloke in another pub.

You are forgetting that those who are privy to sensitive inside info, often head straight to the pub to tell random strangers. That's why they are confidants of those who are ITK.
