Who said anything about nobody being available? Surely its about getting the right players, the players you want.

how much did you spend.on that Engval and how many games has he played for instance

Nice to know you're so interested in ours

I'm not being facetious but the right player at League One level? That's like walking in to Primark and saying they didn't have anything. You're not looking for a Maserati to drive away the next day.

That's not me lourding it over the mighty gap between Championship and League One... I'd make the same accusation at us. But it's much easier to identify 'competent' footballers than it is to be say a top four side in the transfer market.

I think 'right player' is really a load of cobblers for perhaps 85 of the 92 professional clubs. There might be a player who doesn't have the right attitude or is not available for the right price, but there's a bloody great big huge market out there and if several targets for each position cannot be identified in the months leading up to a window and conversations happening earlier that's a huge strategic failing.

20 years old, bought for the future, overcoming injury, fitness levels not up to championship standard.

I wouldn't be so quick to criticise because if he really does end up to be shit, he will probably end up joining your lot just like a host of our cast offs have in recent years and have done sterling amount of undercover agent work on our behalf.

We didn't seem to find it too difficult to find "the right players" for league 1, last time we were there.

Then again, we had an owner who wasn't full of shite.

They lie. Haven't you twigged yet..?!

They either set a lower capacity to excuse their shite attendances, or they inflate their attendances to make them slightly less shite.

Everyone knows the Mem had a capacity of 12k and that was before their new tent was errected. So now it must be 12.3k

I see that tomorrow, unusually, both City and the 15'ers are playing at home with a 3pm kick off. @Purple Paulmust be in a quandary wondering which team he should go to watch. No doubt he'll be inscrutably fair and go to neither. :robbored:

We're playing in the FA Cup though whilst they have a league match against Northampton. Did they not enter the FA Cup this year? Are they boycotting it? Anyone know? :whistle2:

Do they not get a bye to the 4th round due to their enormous wealth, like Man Utd have done in the past?

Thankfully, Rovers are about the only team that we can actually mock, regarding how long they stay in cup competitions!

So if they declare higher attendances than they can fit in aren't they in breech of ground regulations for one, and also got to hand more £££ over to the tax man or whoever gets a cut?

The 11,000 figure was from 2012. They've added more seats since.......under canvas. The 11,200 figure was a few weeks ago.

According to DC in this morning's papers we will probably have to dip into the loan market again, when are we actually going to get a board prepared to invest in the squad I find it incredible that we didn't have a goalkeeper lined up by the opening of the January transfer window it is the one position on the field that you cant afford to mess about with if we go into Sat's match with what we have got and fail to get a result the blame will lie squarely on the managements shoulders.

What happened to six out and six new players in.

they have not got a pot to p in

He may be full of shite for all us know, but the one thing he has always said is he wont be flashing the cash around. So on that front pretty honest and truthful wouldnt you agree?

Got to be a bit annoying for you though hasn't it?

Not so long ago you were gloating about being the 5th richest club in the world and looking forward to the arrival of Messi et al.  Now you're just happy with tents, canopies and sprinklers

There is a reason why he isn't 'flashing the cash around.'

He hasn't got any.

Drip, drip..the truth is finally coming out then...?

I suppose the loan market is not to be sniffed at...Barclays have a decent deal on at the moment.

No, we didn't imagine it, they spouted far and wide that they were now the '6th richest club in England' - they posted videos on You Tube ridiculing us for 'not being as rich as them' and saying Ashton Gate would soon be 'a training ground for their youth team' - they crowed about the 'diggers starting work on their new stadium at UWE' and how they'd 'overtake us within a couple of years' and we'd be forever below them....

Fast forward to now....Mr Lansdown is once again backing his manager and Mark Ashton by opening his wallet and strengthening the squad, and it's only 6 January....meanwhile they're basking in the glory of their new canopy over the hospitality entrance, a new tent or two and zero expenditure on new players.

And we know full well that 'Matty' Taylor is sat next to his phone praying it will ring with an offer to get him outta there....let's hope he treats the next offer with more respect than the diabolical way he ridiculed the last club to offer him a way out with that classless goal celebration....

But, don't forget, they're coming for us!

Makes I laugh when they talk about us as `a rich man`s plaything` and how we`ll be in the shit when SL gets bored and walks away.

you could apply this statement to them in every respect bar one. The bit in quotes just needs to read `a man without a pot to piss in`s plaything`

The flaw in their argument is that Mr Lansdown ain't gonna walk away....wonder how long their guy (who wanted to buy Gillingham FC before their club) will stick around?!
