Bristol Rovers ramp up security for Millwall clash

April 24, 2017 John Kelly 

BRISTOL Rovers will deploy extra stewards and have increased their security operations ahead of Millwall’s trip to The Memorial Stadium next Sunday.

The Lions have sold their full allocation of 1,279 tickets for the fixture as Millwall aim for the win that will guarantee them a play-off place.

Rovers have sold over 11,000 tickets, meaning the contest will be a sell-out for the first time this season.

Bristol Post are reporting that there will be an increased police presence inside and outside the stadium.

"We will have an additional 30 stewards against Millwall compared to our usual number," the club’s Safety Officer Dave Parker told the newspaper.

"It looks set to be a sell-out crowd, but it's an all-ticket match so we should know how many people will be coming to the stadium."

"There will be police on duty from early in the morning, and this match is a designated police match.”

Rovers, who saw their play-off hopes dashed after their defeat to Peterborough last weekend, are also in contact with Millwall over arrangements for players to greet fans after the final whistle of the last game of the regular League One season.

While it is traditional for players from the home side to do a lap of honour after their last game of the season, Millwall could also be celebrating clinching sixth.

"We've spoken to Millwall about the possibility of their players coming out to see their fans after the match,” Parker said. “We're waiting to hear back from them. Of course, we would only be able to do it if it was safe to do so.”

We are bound to be blamed

Should we all just send a photo of ourselves to the EP just to save them a bit of time?

Surely the most wonderful fans in the universe who are so unilaterally loved and complimented on everything from their "unique" kit to badge of a homosexual pirate will happily give the Millwall players a hearty round of applause should they secure a playoff spot?

That's how many tickets are still available for Sunday, would be great if we could sell the lot it's what the team deserves,a packed mem, hope the club have options in place to shift the last few if they don't sell, giving them away to students would be a nice gesture.

 and this to follow

"Fair play about students but just get the last tickets sold,it will put up a marker that the gas will never go away, and we can sell out a match that is unfortunately for us a dead rubber."

Wow they really are that insecure?! They obviously are more worried about their continued existence and know something is up with their new owners! Sell the Mem, take the money and run maybe?
