Ha ha ha . No other option but to share Ashton gate . Have a read . Priceless reading

That worked out well for Bristol Rugby, didn't it? I'm amazed that Bath City held on to Twerton Park :o

From the shots below , we had room for the SS and Lansdown to expand. The Atyeo was already revamped to a point and the Dolman structure was already there. It allowed for the 2 new builds plus the work on the Dolman to be done and keep the stadium open.
I'm no expert, but looking at their site , I imagine their ground would have to be flattened and built from scratch to maximise the space, which would be limited. Either turning it 90 degrees or at least centring it on the site. So they have to move for a year 18 months and pay rent and build a stadium which minimum cost is £1000 a seat. The only plus that the revamp has is all revenue would be for the club, UWE would have been a joint venture, but that's a hell of a lot of pies to recoup your £20m , sorry world class stadium so nearer £45m .

I believe that Wally and his team have a budget of £7.95 a seat...

Anyone want them to win tonight so we can draw them at home next round so 22000 of us can sing 'we've got our stadium'?

Then stuff em 6 nil with a Matty Taylor hatrick

Scenes if this were to happen... I remember the atmosphere at the  JPT rnd 1 with JET scoring. If we could fill the sraidum and stuff them with much better team i'd be laughing

Still, there's always Cossham Street (sorry, The Curtis Drew Stadium). The Blue Few could claim they're ground-sharing with Man United....

Hopefully that would be the final ever derby, the scoreline would never be forgotten by anybody !

Eternal bragging rights !!

Bet they are all salivating over "world class stadium". How the **** are you going to get one of those in there? Why not just say modern stadium, got to over sell it as usual and end up looking more and more suspicious.

The bloke is a total fraud. If they continue to buy into his pie in the sky speeches then they'll get exactly what they deserve.

Having had a good look at the Gaschat thread, to be fair the deluded are few and far between.

There are many very upset and disappointed posters who think this signals the end of the dream.

"The honeymoon is over" comments sums it up. They mostly know they're back to square one - and with only snakes and no ladders on the horizon.

I did notice that he said 'nice modern stadium' rather than the previous 'world class'.

I don't think they will get it but it sounds more like a Shrewsbury flat pack job than something like the mighty Gate.

That interview would have me very concerned if I were a sag, luckily I'm not so can enjoy the debacle!

Wael hasn't yet had first-hand experience of the difficulties attached to gaining planning permission in Bristol generally and specifically, in the Gloucester Road area. I think that the NIMBY's will already be sharpening their pencils and drawing up battle plans. He'll be foolish if he thinks that he'll be able to substantially redevelop that site without a prolonged fight.

planning permission for the Mem isn't an issue, it's previously been granted, if it was turned down this time rovers would take it to appeal and court and would win

I think they could in theory, build a stand behind where the centenary stand is one season and then shift the pitch towards it creating space on the other side. That would reduce capacity to about 8,000 im guessing but they hardly need that now anyway so maybe they wouldnt have to move. They woiud be stuck with the tents behind one goal but subject to natural light issues could possibly increase the size of the stand behind the other goal.

But the plans will have changed versus what had previously been approved so it will be a brand new application. They won't get away with just citing the acceptance of their previous application as precedent.

that doesn't matter, the original plans was for a stadium expansion, so will the new ones, precedent has already been set

I'm guessing that wouldn't give them rights to throw up anything without thought for the locals.

The only restriction would be the size I think, Like with us when we built the atyeo, they wouldn't be able to chuck up a 2 tiered stand,

The most they will be able to build is a 15k all seater possibly 17.5k, that's it

Plenty of space to play with, but light issues with tent end and any construction on the car park. Access will be the real restriction, within the site and outside. The non-local locals will kick off like mad should any proposed capacity exceed 13k, They have a point as the infrastructure round the mem is not the best and any visiting team bringing a few thousand will clog the streets. Mind you they should be used to this given the 6,000 plus locked out every other week!!!!!!

That isn't how planning or the legal system works.  Precedent doesn't come into planning.

The council are perfectly within their rights to arrive at a different decision even if the application was exactly the same because many other external factors could be different.

The only appeal is a judicial review and for that to succeed it has to be shown that there was something wrong with the decision in a very narrow set of criteria based on the procedure applied not the actual decision.

Even if you win a judicial review it doesn't mean you get the decision you want, the court could simply direct the council to make the decision again.

With my hobby being Astro photography  a friends 9 year old lad asked me a question the other day. "How far is a light year" I thought about it and gave him the answer it's how far light travels in one calendar year, still puzzled he said "But how many miles is that". Well I said you know where Ashton gate is, yes came the reply. You know where the Memorial Stadium is, yes came the reply. Well that's a light year. Job done nipper fully up to speed.
